Friends:
Derek has never had much trouble making friends. If the people are kind, trustworthy and do not get in the way of his work then Derek will have no inclination to regard them with distaste. This stems from how he was raised and his working environment. The former decrees that respecting and liking people does not always come down to always agreeing with their opinions while the latter means that he cannot particularly afford to be picky. On the occasion he needed to work late night shifts, it was far easier to do a good job if you trusted and got on decently with your coworkers.

Enemies:
Derek has not really made enemies as much as he knows. He keeps out of situations that may bring him into contact with cruel and manipulative people and thus does not know anyone who would go against his moral grain. There may have been a Ravenclaw or two at Hogwarts that were envious of his academic success, but it is unlikely that this jealousy blossomed into hate.

Love:
It has never been a life 'priority' for him per-say and so Derek has not had much to do with romance over the years. The few times in which he was in a relationship was after having been struck with how remarkable and brilliant that particular woman was. And so, those few times, he had pursued those women in his own way. Though maybe not the most original in his courtship, Derek was nothing if not persistent. He did try to not badger them if they did not show any interest after a while though.

Mary Black: Although having met abruptly, after having a fun and enlightening hour or so in Mary's company, Derek was quite certain that they would be good friends. Having bonded over some Butterbeers, it seemed to Derek that Mary was cheerful, sweet and interesting, all of these reasons leading him to give her his post-box number. But even though they may become good friends, it is doubtful that they will ever become very close as few of their interests seem to overlap.
