| He flipped a couple of pages and landed on "the Crushing Cabinet?"
A Crushing Cabinet is a torture device consisting of an iron cabinet in which a person is slowly crushed, as they find the walls, floor and ceiling closing in. The crushing walls are activated by closing the door shut.
He shivered slightly, worse than the cold wind outside. Just the thought of him being crush in the object. He wanted to read on though...
He read about cursed books for instance, Sonnets of a Sorcerer, which forces the reader to speak forever in limericks. A book that sears the eyes of the reader. A book that the reader cannot stop reading or dispose of.
He moved back a couple of pages. He saw a crumple decrepit hand on a purple pillow.
Hand of glory:
The Hand of Glory is a hand which gives light only to the beholder.
The Hand of Glory is a magical instrument which appears often in mystic lore. In general, it is described as a severed and preserved human hand, with a candle inplanted on it. The various powers ascribed to a Hand Of Glory include the ability to immobilize anyone who looks at it, or unlock any door it comes across. It was traditionally used by thieves, since it allowed them to see in otherwise total darkness, open locked doors, and immobilize guards. In some dark magical ceremonies, Hands of Glory were reputed to have been used as the source of illumination. Various grisly myths surround the making of a Hand of Glory (which fits well with the reputation of Borgin & Burke's). The hand is said to be that of an executed criminal (usually by hanging); most often the criminal himself is a murderer or other serious felon. Other myths say that a hanged man's blood is necessary to the recipe, or that his body fat is used to make the candle.
The myth is probably derived from the (European) Mandrake plant (Mandragora officinarum). Etymologically, the name "Mandragora" closely resembles the French phrase "Main de la Gloire," ("Hand of Glory") The actual Mandrake plant produces a number of alkaloid toxins, including scopolamine and mandragorine, and has been used since ancient times as an anesthetic. Chewing the root can cause stupor.
A Hand of Glory appears prominently in the climax of John Bellairs's young adult novel The House With A Clock In Its Walls.
On the back of the same page had only a few lines of another dark object...no name but a description:
The Opal necklace is a cursed Dark object, which was claimed to have taken the lives of nineteen Muggles. Be cautious when handling.

| He flipped it to the back of the book where was the section of Dark potions.
The regeneration potion is a Dark Potion that restores a wizard whose body has become maimed and disfigured to their true and whole bodily form. The potion requires a Cauldron large enough for a grown man to sit in as well as three crucial ingredients: bone unknowingly taken from the Dark Wizard's father, flesh willingly sacrificed from one of his servants, and the blood forcibly extracted from one of his foes. The remainder of the ingredients, if any besides water are needed, remain unknown.
Another Potion:
The rudimentary body potion is a potion likely invented by Lord Voldemort. It was prepared for him by Wormtail and was used to create Voldemort's rudimentary body in order to sustain him while he awaited his return to power. Two of its main ingredients were unicorn blood and Nagini's snake venom. The drinker must continuously drink the potion every few hours in order to maintain the little health that they have regained.
Alexander was so disgusted about what he was reading. He close the book and got up and replace it back where he found it. He kept a mental note that if he ever needed more infomation about dark arts he will go back to that book.

| A tawny owl flew around the attic before seeing that the occupier of the room was not at home. It left a letter on the table neatly addressed to Alexander Luke Brown.
Dear Luke, I hope you have been through a good vacation so far before we head back to Hogwarts. In the meantime, I would like to invite you – and a few other people – to the Leoine residence for as long as you like. It begins as soon or as late as you feel comfortable to leave home. If you wish to come along, I shall be waiting at the country park of Wiltshire to pick you up as soon as you reply.
Yours sincerely, Alexandra Leoine.

| Luke several hours latter landed into the open window, where his dear Pikachu flies in and out of. But when he lands, their is no sign of yellow feathers, sassy hooting or playful annoyance. He changed back into human form, several times bigger to see the whole Attic, but Luke saw nothing, no one. "Pikachu," he called cupping his hands around his mouth to project his voice further, but to no avail. He tried whistling and calling in his animagi form but nothing except dead quite.
Where is he?
Luke just shrugged it off like it was nothing. He told himself that he was out hunting or something, that Pikachu would be back latter tonight. Without time to waste he proceeded down stairs to the basement. His basement, where all his potions were made, and perfected.

| Luke woke up. His head was pounding. He moan as he sat up. His eyes were close trying to keep his stomach down from coming up his throat and from the world spinning. Keeping his eyes shut he felt around on the coffee table looking for something, but found nothing. It was barren. He only felt the hard wood underneath his fingers.
"Cazz?" he whispered, not to upset his head.

| He whispered her name again. He knew she was their, but where? He had no idea. Probably by the lake? he thought as he stood up testing his center of balance. It was weak but steady. Now for the big test, opening his eyes. | |

| Not testing his strength to fly he slowly crept to the stairs. He had to take his time, and maneuver around books and other obsticles, so he did not trip and kill himself. His joints and movements were choppy. They did not want to work as properly as they should. He lean on the wall for support as he walked down the stairs to the kitchen and out the back door without any incident. | |

| Flipping through she stopped at the poisons slowly reading the symptoms. This was wrong. It was wrong. Going back to the beginning of the book. He had the symptoms of an illness that had been dead for at lest a hundred years or someone was trying to poison him. | |

| Alexander climb the stairs to the Attic, leaving it ajar for Misery to come in, as he crossed the room to one of the two windows. The window was lift open for Pikachu to come soaring , but since two years had passed, and no sight of him at all, he figure either the bird died of old age, or that the owl was still mad at him. He grabbed the both sides of the window clicking it shut, and drawing the heavy set curtains close.
Than he went to the back of the room, passing the wall of books that line most of the Attic from floor to ceiling, bypassing a table full of objects that hiss, or started to shack, or even blew smoke. Alexander never figured out what they were for, as he lead Misery to a common seat area, slabbed in the middle a coffee table. Alexander did not set down just yet, as he made sure the window was locked, and curtains were drawn.
"Sorry about the mess," he muttered, taking a seat on the couch, leaving just enough room on it for Misery, or she could take one of two empty chairs. Looking about it was the most cluttered room in the house, that wasn't to mention the closet off to the side, with all his father old failed experiments. Luke never seem to have the heart to throw them away, even though they periodically made horrible sounds, or explosion.

| Never mind the mess, Misery thought, gliding through the room soundlessly. This had to be the most interesting room in his house. Her eyes caught books and scrolls, and various inviting experiments, but she would not go through them without permission. The vampire doubted she could get one now, anyway. Besides, they had more pressing matters to discuss.
Taking a seat on the chair opposite of her friend, Misery took a breath, as if all the walking had somewhat exhausted her physically. She was not quite sure where to begin, or how to phrase what she had to tell. After a moment of silence and her watching Alexander carefully, Misery spoke in a low, tired voice.
"Mind you, Xander, shan't I just show you?"

| Alexander just froze up. His hands grappling with pieces of his robe, as he thought about it carefully. It wasn't the fear of Misery invading his mind, she already walked along the edges of his consciousness, seen how his mind works. It was the fact that Misery would relive her hell in incarceration, and Luke would live his as well. The thoughts of his parents screams flashed in his mind as they begged Tyler to stop.
"Go ahead." His voice sound so detached, as those words tumble forth. Alexander braced himself for the onslaught of images, the intense emotions, and what ever Misery was about to show him. Luke did not know what to expect, but he closed his eyes, and held on tight to his robes.

| "Oh, for Charna's sake, don't look so bloody scared," it was the first Misery showed signs of irritation. "Who do you take me for?"
She practised this. She knew this. After years of controlled meditations, after past two years of nothing but intense reclaiming of her wits and self-control, Misery would not have proposed something to intentionally hurt Xander. It was her pain and she would live through it again tonight, but it would be Alexander's choice entirely whether to tap into her feelings or not.
Images, sounds, shown as they are, but not nearly as powerful as memories of someone who experienced them. Misery had complete control. She'd share them gently, carefully. Maybe cover up some of the, ah, more gruesome details.

| Misery irritation was evidence, and for some odd reason it eased him, making him smirk before she slide into his mind, revealing what happen. That smirk vanish in seconds at the sights, the sounds. It was a torrent of information flooding his mind. Seeing what Misery was seeing, he did not know why, but he wanted to know what she was feeling at the time. Under another circumstance, another friend, he would have not done so, but with Misery...

| She hesitated at first, of course. But Misery knew she did need this, to finally show someone her memories, thoughts and fears in all their entity. It was a selfish need, but a weight that she could no longer bear herself. She knew this now, as tears began welling up behind her closed eyelids. It just hurt so bad, and she couldn't tell anyone. Until now.
All right. | |

| Alexander tried to keep his emotions in check, so none would mix with Misery, causing even more pain, more torment, but he was not ready for what was to come. Misery's emotions were crashing down on all sides. His body could not help jerked by such force surrounding him, but he stayed with her, not wanting to let her down in her time of need. He clung to the thing that drove Misery, when she was capture all those months ago, like a life raft: Her will to live. | |

| Slowly, as the long line of memories came to an end, Misery detached her mind completely from Xander's. She stayed still for a moment, then opened her eyes carefully to the lightness of the room. Her cheeks were wet and sticky with salty tears. Her eyes burned from even the little electric light.
The sun had risen outside; she could feel it. What seemed like moments passed through hours in reality. There was no decent shadow up here, and Misery felt so tired she would have collapsed sooner than attempted a shadow-crossing. Besides, there was still something she wanted to discuss. There would be no sleep for her this day.

| As she retreated, so did he. For a time afterwards Alexander did not want to open his eyes to see the world around him. This world was to cruel, to cruel by any standards. But he could not deny it. The only release from this world is death, and death did not agree with Luke either. As he open his eyes, he wiped away a stray tear that was dangling off his chin. He just stared at Misery, not saying word. He hardly took a breath, and did not move an inch, as he sat there.
Not even realizing Truffles laid curled up in a ball in his lap, snoozing away.

| He shook his head slowly. "There is nothing to apologize for," he said at first a whisper but grew in strength. He even had the energy to pet Truffle's to Truffle's enjoyment. "You are not to blame. None of this was your fault." He started to move around more, to loosen up his stiff muscles. What seem like minutes, he was surprise was hours. He gentle picked up his cat setting it aside. To truffle's annoyance he hoped off the couch and slanted out of the room. "Sleep here tonight," he said getting to his feet. At first he thought he would keel over from exhaustion, but he stood his ground. "Amelia is probably crashed out in the spare room, so you can sleep in my room tonight." It was not a suggestion, it was a concern command that he would not take no for an answer. "Plus the sun faces it in the morning, so I have blackout curtains, and blinds." | |

| Misery gave a tiny nod, unable to form a proper argument. She rose up to her feet shakily, only to slump back into the chair she had previously been sitting in, overwhelmed by her drowsy state. Well, no matter. It was as good a place to sleep as any. And once she woke, Misery would find her mind had been calmed, relieved.
Completely cleared of nightmares, even if for just the one day.

| Seeing Misery, collapsed he was about to suggest he would carry her to his bed, when he realize she already fallen to sleep. He dismissed the notion of him carrying her immediately afterwards, not after what she went through. So Luke slump back down, to exhausted to fall asleep, so for a time he watched Misery. His wand place gentle at his side. He did not want any unexpected visitors knocking down his door from Misery's past.
After a few hours, hunger overrode his desire to sleep, so as silently as he could he tip toe down to the kitchen, skipping the second to the last step because it squeaked. The smell alone would drive Misery to the Kitchen, but Luke was curtest enough leaving a note, saying he was in the kitchen. He just hoped Truffle does not try to attack it.

| When she finally woke, Misery felt lighter than ever in the past months. Her eyelids fluttered open to the brightness of the room, but her eyes didn't even hurt this time around. Sure, she knew a good sleep couldn't cure her of all her problems, such as the issue of her being unable to walk in the sun ever again, but the current feeling was enough to make her slightly more optimistic about the future.
She stood, and found that she was hungry. A bit of a drawback, considering it was still day outside, but she could wait another couple of hours. Sensing Xander somewhere downstairs, Misery moved to find him.

| Morning brought on headaches and painful spasms that travelled through her entire body. They'd stayed out too long as it was, Sorrow and she. Misery wondered how badly her brother would be affected; probably not as much, as her health was still worse in some ways. Still, she worried.
It had been relieving to feel the comforting presence of her brother's mind, however much she'd dreaded the moment. Misery knew she'd underestimated Sorrow. She wished dearly to be able to stop repeating that mistake.
She came back in through the shadows; materialising in Xander's kitchen and then moving up to the attic. Did Xander say she could stay here? She could honestly not remember, but in her drowsy state, it seemed as good a place as any. Immediately upon nearing the couch, the vampire sort of stumbled, half-collapsing onto it. Asleep before her head hit the near one of the cushions.

| Luke came back little after dawn broke the horizon. changing the colors of the sky from black, to a reddish, purple color. He walked for miles since Misery left him. Deeper and deeper did he go into the woods so dark and quite. To Luke, it was a trip around the river bin, something that he missed doing ever since he was accepted into Hogwarts Witch Craft and Wizardry.
His face was drench in sweat as he kicked off his shoes in the kitchen. The t-shirt was soaked through, clinging to his chubby baby fat chest. Taking his time to catch his breath, he stood in the middle of the kitchen, watching the sun slowly stream through the windows, brightening up even the darkest of crannies.
"Misery? Alexandra?" he finally said in a whisper. his breath turned back to normal. No one answered. He took his time filtering to every unlocked room in the house before landing himself in the Attic. The curtains were still drawn from two days ago darkening up the clutter space. Finally, as his eyes adjusted he saw just the blonde hair from the top of, his guess, Misery's head. As he closed the distance, making lots of tiny noises from the old creaked house even Misery herself could not escape, he saw that she was asleep. Dead asleep, excuse the pun.
Luke just smile before finding an old quilt over the chair. He unfolded it, and place it gentle around Misery, trying hard not to wake her. "Sleep well my friend," he said to her in a ghost of a whisper before retreating from the attic.
