| "The grandfather clock at the stroke of midnight? Really?" she muttered to herself, barely stiffling a smirk. It would have been horribly cliché if it weren't for Luke's distant cursing from upstairs. Shutting her eyes once more at a wave of dizziness, Alexandra reached out to touch Ouriel's mind with her own. Since he was only a neighborehood or so away, it was still a fairly strong link. 'Could you meet me in Luke's backyard? I don't think I'm in the best state of mind to apparate right now...' she sent a quick image of what his backyard looked like and managed to keep what Misery did to herself for the moment. 'I find it tiresome that you are trying to hide something,' Ouriel was mildly irritated that he was being called away from his hunting. 'There had better be a good reason as to why.' 'I promise there is, I'll tell you later, I'm sorry Ouriel.' the quiet of her mental voice caused Ouriel to immediately begin flying towards Luke's home. She could practically feel his wings beat against the air. 'Thank you.'
Alexandra opened her eyes and managed to smile slightly at Misery, "It's time for me to go now. I hope you feel better soon." If she was this tired from one lost dose of blood, it would be really annoying if Misery just threw it all up. Their complicated friendship could wait until another day.

| Misery had drawn herself into an odd silence, her gaze shifting from the curtained window, to the woman as she left, and finally to her friend. “Somehow…” a sigh passed her lips, but the absent-minded look in her eyes told that the vampire did not mean to finish the thought. Not for others to hear, at least.
Truth was, she would have thrown a fuss about the event and Alexandra’s current state, but she very much doubted that the ex-Ravenclaw would appreciate it. The warm blood had settled in her tummy, and while Misery felt better than earlier that night, she was beginning to grow weary again. She stood only to bid her friend farewell, gliding too close and leaning in only to whisper; to touch was forbidden, for the time being. “Don’t worry about me.”
The curses were growing faint in the background as Misery disappeared up, followed by the gentle, final chime of the grandfather clock.
What a naughty cat, her thought was left hanging in the air, the tone of it not at all scolding as the phrasing might have indicated. Misery paused by the door of Xander’s room, crouched down to invite the cat to her. Her open arms were inviting, promising a petting. Misery had her way with cats; like her own feline, Eerie, none could resist the lure of a vampire – as long as it was good-natured, of course. Cats were far too intelligent to be fooled by simple notices. “Oh, my~ you have made our Xander angry, it seems,” the voice was quiet, yet softer than before. “But what a crude boy, cursing like that.”

| On the island of the kitchen sat a book. The corners of it scuffed with time and the outer edges of the pages darkened with use. The book sat in plain sight nothing covering it up though it had no words on its cover you could tell the black book was important. Though the book that was usually inactive started to glow a bright red with and urgent message.
Dear Luke,
Um... well I am not really sure how to say this at all. I have a surprise for you. Ha... Ha. So I really think you should come over soon so we can talk about it. Like now... Something very serious that I need your help with and will most likely change our lives. I love you, see you soon!
Love you lots, Cazz | |

| Somehow, Misery managed to entertain herself for hours; just wandering around the house, with Truffles following, curious in what the vampire may discover. However, Misery kept her fingers calm, rather setting to inspect the aura in each room, the way it was as it was, instead of snooping around Xander's personal stuff. She knew what to touch and what not, respecting her friend's privacy, but enough to keep herself busy for a while.
It was near midnight - or past? Misery wasn't sure - when she found herself in the kitchen again. A bowl of milk was brought out to silent Truffles' meowing, and the cat seemed grateful even as it drank greedily. Misery paid no more attention to the cat or the room however; not any more. As soon as she entered the kitchen, her eyes had fallen to the book sitting on the kitchen counter. Such a peculiar little book, what with the glowing and all. Whatever was it for?
Now Misery had seen a fair share of books, but she was always willing to discover more. Whatever enchantments books held, she'd never seen one glowing quite as such as this one. It was certainly inviting to her curiosity... but dared she touch it? Perhaps this was also one of the items in the house that she was not supposed to touch. Surely, Xander would be angry with her if she did so without permission - something like this, no doubt, she wasn't supposed to-
Thin lipped, Misery stared at the book in her hands, wondering when she'd come so close to pick it up. She damned herself twice, then opened a channel in her mind, searching for Xander's note in order to inform him of the, ah, most strange state of his book.
