Dropping the Ball on finding a date...... (Tag Timothy and possibly open)

Matthieu walked up to one of his classmates, intent on asking her to the ball. As he stepped towards her, he heard her tell her friends that she already had a date. 'Damn,' he said to himself.


After that debacle, Matthieu made his way up to the bell tower. Being up high always seemed to clear his head. "Why does it have to be so hard to understand?" he said aloud.

Timothy had been idly walking around, observing people on pure habit, when he found himself in the bell tower, with a boy asking why something had to be so hard to understand.
"Need a hand with something, mate?" Timothy would prefer to simply observe, but that was rather difficult to do with just the two of them up here.

"Hearing a voice in the tower with him, Matthieu turned to find himself facing a Hogwarts student. 'What's the green house again? Snifter of Gin? Ah well, its not that important.' he thought to himself. "Not unless you know a spell to summon a date, mon frere." he said aloud. Then realizing he hadn't introduced himself, he stuck out his hand and said "My name's Matthieu. And you are...?"

The boy called Timothy mon frer. What in the bloody world was mon frer? Hopefully not a flirt or something...
"Timothy Carpenter." He shook Matthew's hand. "Sorry. I'd offer to introduce you to my date since I don't really want to go, but that sounds really weird and I heard a rumour Naer will be pairing up people who don't come with dates. So, you could hope you get paired with someone you'll like. What'd you mean when you said 'why is it so hard to understand'?" Could he be talking about asking someone out on a date? But that wasn't hard to understand, just to do. Maybe he was talking about English? Or German? The Durmstrang students were from Germany, weren't they?

Matthieu almost laughed aloud at the thought of being set up with somebody else's date, but thought better of it as he was unsure of Timothy's sense of humor. Instead, he smiled and said "Yeah, I can see how that'd be weird. And the Head playing matchmaker?" He shook his head at the thought. What kind of situation did he get himself into this time? "It's bad enough being the child of a professor back at my school, but to have the head of another school try to pair me up with someone? I'd rather take a hippogriff. Actually, do you think I could get away with that?" Matthieu said, half chuckling. "The thing I don't understand is females. I can talk my way into and out of almost anything except for a date with a girl."
