| Helloooooo everyone!
SO, many of you are creating characters. Well, in theory, your characters should have a decent background with their fellow classmates, so here is where you can all converse and decide who is friends with who, enemies with someone else, has a crush on this one, the one who doesn't return the crush. The family friends, the school rivalry, the known prankster or prick, teacher's pet, and on and on!!
I'd suggest giving a briefing on your character, including age (in order to participate in the tournament they should be in their 4th-7th year) and basic personality type. What they're good at and what they suck at, what you want them to be known for, etc. etc.
Have fun!
(and REMEMBER, you should log on AS YOUR CHARACTER, if I have a character at Beauxbaton named Jessie, I'm not going to post here as Eirina talking about my character Jessie. It's about KEEPING THEM A SECRET. Have fun, and watch out for leaving and picking up on hints of who you and everyone else is in here :P)

| Adalrik Eklof Durmstrang 7th Year Personality Adalrik is a no nonsense type of man. He has suffered a lot through his life and has become intolerant of many things. Brutally honest and direct, he will not hesitate to criticize or shame someone if he deems their behavior unacceptable. Because of this he has few friends, not that he cares. He is determined in his own personal goal, which he hides from all others. Adalrik is known for having a temper that can rage out of control or quietly smolder in the background, depending on the situation. Despite his coldness towards most people, there is a searing hole in his heart that longs to see others do the best for themselves that they can. When he sees people not living up to their potential he has no problem with telling them so. Strengths: Adalrik is dedicated and strong willed, a fierce competitor. He trains his body daily to remain strong and agile. Hexes and jinxes come easy to him. Weaknesses: His temper, of course, is a big weakness. At times he can hardly control it. He has problems with spells of a healing or helpful nature and also with being polite. - A little scene from Adalrik's life to get to know his personality:
The last night Adalrik saw his mother was branded into his mind forever like so many white hot scars on the surface of his memory. If she was still alive he did not care to know; she was nothing to him. Her frail form still uncovered itself in his deepest nightmares but he shunned it aside to bury it in the farthest recesses of his mind. It was a distraction he could not afford. Adalrik would not allow a soft memory of her to lessen his anger or to deter his goals. When his icy blue eyes were closed in slumber, though, the scene replayed uninterrupted.
The night was dark, a storm looming in the churning clouds. They wove and coalesced in a threatening mass that hid the light of the moon and stars. In this remote part of the world where light was so precious and rare in the winter the storm was a nightmare ready to feast on the cold sad souls of its inhabitants. A bright burst of lightening sparked in the distance and rolling plains and deep lakes could be spotted dotting the landscape. A far off rumble of thunder ominously broke the nights silence as its roar sped over the sleeping village.
Heavy footfalls pounded the gravel walkways, deep breaths rhythmically keeping time. Adalrik's body glistened with layers of sweat that fell in torrents over his large muscled frame. His blue eyes were glazed over as if in a trance as his heart beat steadily in his chest. Time and life had been forgotten while he ran across the landscape of his homeland. Hours may have passed as he legs moved tirelessly to bring him back home. He had no notion of how long he had been out.
He slowed as he reached the door to his house, coming back into himself. He let his momentum stop and his body rest, the sweat now freezing on his soaked shirt. His breath returning to normal, Adalrik reached out his hand to grasp the door knob but instead found the door slightly ajar. A low growl escaped his lips as he shoved the door inward and stepped through the threshold.
The living room was in shambles. The low light of a static filled TV threw its harsh white glow over the tables covered in piles of newspapers, used plates, and who knew what else. The sharp scream of a tea pot boiling on the stove pierced Adalrik's ears, blending with the buzz of nightlife outside. On the couch lay his mother, blonde hair that was once beautiful all a mess and tangled about her sullen face. Her eyes were glossy as she looked toward the door, her movements slow. Adalrik noticed the empty bottle grasped in her frail hands. More lay scattered about the room, all empty.
Rage began to bubble inside Adalrik. This was how he had left her much earlier in the day. She had yet to even move from where she lay wallowing on the couch. He calmly walked over to her supine form and took the bottle from her hands, holding it out of her reach. She looked up pleadingly into his eyes, their blues matching perfectly.
“Oh, what? Do you want this?” His voice was deep, a low rumble to mimic the thunder in the distance. He raised an eyebrow as she stuttered out an unintelligible reply. With a rapid fling of his arm Adalrik threw the bottle against the far wall. It hit with a crash and exploded glass fragments around the room, their tinkling as they hit each other resounding in the small space. He brought his face close to his mothers and he could feel her heat radiating onto his cool skin. “That is the last time,” he hissed into her ear, “that I will ever see you drink again.”
Straightening up, he took a step back but kept his eyes locked onto his mothers until he knew she was in a state to understand his words. She made a feeble attempt to raise, to reach out to him. He shoved her arm aside as his words gathered intensity and volume. “You want to end up like him, don't you? You want to be buried and rotting and forgotten!” He turned his back on her and made his way to the door. “See if I come to help you. You're just like him.”
Adalrik was about to leave the house, never to return, when two dark figures formed before him in the doorway. They wore dark cloaks with their faces hidden inside. Their hunched forms did nothing to hide their brute strength and the wand tips poking out from their large sleeves were unmistakable.
“What do you want?” Adalrik barked, not in the mood for interruptions.
One of the figures stepped close to Adalrik, his tense body mere inches away. “We've come for the money we are owed.” The voice was menacing and firm. It was one Adalrik could almost place, for these type of men were no strangers to his life.
“Do you never cease? Even after your debtor is dead?” A flint like spark took over his eyes as he watched the figures carefully. He could feel his temperature rising, his blood rushing through his veins.
“He may be dead, but you and your mother are not. Give us our payment, now, or you will be sorry you attempted to put up a fight.”
A smirk played on Adalrik's face as he took a small step back. “Attempted?”
With that he flung himself forward, whipping his arm back before landing a solid punch right onto the first figure's face. He crumpled to the ground, blood flowing profusely form his nose. Adalrik wasted no time going for the second cloaked man, this time narrowly dodging a spell aimed at him. Red sparks illuminated the room, cascading into darkness as they hit the floor. He lunged forward and grasped the figure's head under his arm, pressing into his throat. The man was choking, trying to plead for mercy but all that escaped were strangled gurgles.
Adalrik placed his mouth on his ear and whispered, “I am not my father. You will not come after me again.” His wand emerged from his pocket and he placed it on the shaking figure's temple. “Stupefy.”
Letting the form thud to the floor unconscious, Adalrik kicked him aside and stalked out into the stormy night without a single backward glance.

Durmstrang 7th Year Personality: Miron's a total show off, always making DADA, Charms, and even Transfiguration look easy peasy. He never had any trouble as long as he had his wand. His attitude has often gotten him into trouble, always wanting to mess with the other students, particularly the brooding know-it-alls. Detention is a routine for him usually from goofing off, disrespecting his elders, and getting into unsupervised duels. Strengths: Classes like DADA, Charms, and Transfiguration. He has a knack for making things interesting, and almost always has to put in his two cents. Weaknesses: Classes like Potions, History of Magic, and Muggle Studies. He's bad at paying attention and has very little patience. He has trouble when he isn't the center of attention.

| QUIANE DURAND Beauxbaton 5th Year Muggleborn
Personality: Quiane has a big enough heart for anyone but herself. When it comes to caring for her friends and working, she is focused and cheerful but very cynical whenever the spot-light is on her. When she is the center of attention, the Beauxbaton student uses dry humor and sarcasm to deflect the attention. It makes her uncomfortable and think that people want something from her. And if someone subjects her friends to unwanted attention and/or hurts them, she will defend her friends with a passion she never rouses for herself. Although no one would ever call her ugly, she has always stuck out as a bit of a 'plain jane' amongst her Veela classmates with figures ranging from statuesque to femme fatale to sporty and slender. It's not that she lacks self-confidence entirely, it is simply that she doesn't think she is or ever will be 'pretty' and using charms and transfiguring herself would feel too much like lying to the world.
Strengths: Transfiguration: Once she learnt the basic principle it was all a matter of working with details for her. The words of the spells may be different, but the process felt the same for her in each casting. Defense Against the Dark Arts: Quiane has a talent for defensive spells and planning which often helps her with sparring. While her opponent is busy thinking of a new hex to use, she already has a strong shield and is working on her own counter-attack. Even though the counter may not be very strong, her patience and concentration that means this carries on through the entire duel wins her quite a few rounds. Care of Magical Creatures: Although cleaning up feces is not exactly her idea of a good time, playing with and caring for animals is another way for her to make friends. Sure they may be an entirely different species, but that doesn't make it any less of a friendship when she was one of the few the Hippogriff they visited would bow to.
Weaknesses: Charms: Being able to change something without entirely altering it's material existence eludes her. Herbology: Honestly, she just finds gardening boring. History of Magic: She can't help but think that History of Magic over-complicates everything. The details and nuances often change between things but the essential essence of the world doesn't. If you understand people then History is unnecessary because it teaches what you already know.

| Veronica Fay Beauxbaton, 6th year Personality: Veronica was born into a strict household, where her very conservative muggle father prevailed. She lived in a world where her father frown upon even the mention of the “M” word, let alone the sight of a wand or conjure a simple spell. His stature and demeanor stifled Veronica. He smothered her freewill, making her reflect her thoughts and emotions inward, and not out. Her mother a kind and gentle woman walked a different path than other women, traveling the road of a mire muggle and not of a witch. She convinced her husband to send Veronica to Beauxbaton, so she could master her abilities to be able to control them in order for her to be the “proper child” Veronica’s father wants her to be. Her thought and soft spoken words are dreams skidding across the clear blue lakes, dancing ripples of metaphors cascading into one another to form and shape Veronica. She is a drifter in the shifting sands, always searching for her own oasis wherever that may be. Her heart flutters with the beating wing of a thousand butterflies in the sight of beauty and the bounds that keep her still, breaks to set her free, allowing her to be more open around others (for a time at least.) Strengths:
- She is a conjurer that she is. Veronica a natural affinity to master Transfiguration
- spells with that slightest of ease.
- She enjoys puzzles and unraveling riddles.
- Stealth and silence are her allies.
Weaknesses:She is inept at most other things. She doesn’t have a green thumb to do Herbology, the stars in the sky do not form constellations like Astronomy, nor do they at certain angles predict ones greatness or folly so Devination makes others believe. She has no desire to tame animals for her own amusement, and would gladly set all of them free during Care of Magical Creatures.

| I can see Adalrik and Miron having a very tenuous friendship. Adalrik would tolerate his showing off and goofing around since he is obviously very skilled and knows what he is doing. They would probably find themselves in detention together often, but for different reasons. One day maybe they would be friendly to each other but the next getting into duels and verbal matches. What do you think? | |

| Oh, sorry!
Yeah, I can totally see it that way! =) Miron would be more friendly to people in detention just so he isn't completely bored, and he'd sometimes tolerate what he sees as Aldarik brooding, where on the other hand he can go right around and get into duels with him. So they have a bit of a two-faced friendship, as sometimes Miron would be irritated by him (usually whenever Aldarik's being extra serious), and other times Miron would just accept who he is.

| Vincent Renwick Beauxbaton, 6th year Personality: Vincent can be very cocky but he is soft at heart. He can be a sweet talker and wants everything to go his way. He wants everyone to think he is a bad-ass but he really isn't. He is determined at everything and wants to find every way possible for people to be impressed with him. Although he does well in most of his classes he doesn't want people to know he actually enjoys some classes to keep up his appearance. Strengths: ~He does well in D.A.D.A, Herbology, Divination and Potions. ~He is good at getting away with things. ~He is good at competitions and duels. Weaknesses: ~He has trouble with anything referring to History. ~He gets distracted easily and loses his train of thought quickly. ~He has trouble with staying awake during classes and when someone is talking to him about a subject he finds boring. | |

| (seeing as how the Renwick's are cousins~)
Miron being the oldest between him and Vincent, he sees it as a reason to pick on Vincent wherever possible. During the tournament he is likely to be extra trouble for Vincent because they don't see each other often elsewhere. With what little time they're family gets together outside of school, Miron knows little about Vincent, and sometimes misjudges his character. Miron doesn't think Vincent is a very good wizard, but only because he goes to 'school for sissies'.

| Personality: Overall quite gale, not much of a show off. Inverted most of the time, though when around people or family she trusts she blossoms with personality. She follows the fashions, tries to stay out of trouble as much as possible, and get her homework done in a timely manor. She is sort of a brown nosier, she dose not really want to be hated by anyone or liked to much by strangers. You can usually find her with flowers talking or either taking care of them, or out in the halls just wondering looking for something to do. Koia is also a sixth year at Durmstrang.
Strengths: Herbology, potions, random facts about different things.
Weakness: Social situations, dark arts, and having confrontation.
Family: She is a distant cousin to the Hudson family, that hopes to reconnect with the roots of the family in England.

| Matthieu Oliver Beauxbaton 6th year
PERSONALITY
Matthieu Oliver is the student of one of the professors of Beauxbatons, specifically the Charms professor. Due to this fact, some students assume that any time he performs well during the theory portion of the class, it is because his mother is teaching. In fact, his mother is harder on him than anyone else in the class, and he, while having an affinity to Charms, quite dislikes the class. He would much rather spend his free time in Care of Magical Creatures or flying. He also spends a fair amount of time in detention from lashing out on people who tell him he only succeeds in school because of his mother. For the most part, he is a jovial sort of fellow, playing his fair share of jokes, but toeing the line before a joke goes too far. He enjoys the company of others, and will do anything for those in his "inner circle."
STRENGTHS
Charms: He grew up with a Charms professor, it was inevitable that he would pick up on some of her talents.
COMC: He secretly wants to be a member of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, but is afraid that his parents would throw him out if he pursued this dream.
Flying: he always dreamed of taking to the skies as a child, and at the age of five, he received his first toy broom. He loves watching the French National team, and although the team is primarily female, he dreams of playing for them someday as well.
DADA: Matthew can perform some advanced defensive charms, due to his affinity with the subject, and as such is perceived as doing well at the subject. From time to time he mixes up his counter-curses but he plays it off as a joke.
WEAKNESSES
Transfiguration: Matthieu understands the theory, but just can't get the hang of changing the essence of something into something else.
History: The only history he cares about is the history he makes himself. _____________________________________________________________________________ I could see Matt getting along with Vincent due to their apparent(at least on his side) dislike of some classes. As for the ladies, I have no idea what they would think of him.

| (This is just how I visualize things at the moment between Quiane and different characters, if you want to correct anything, please do!)
Adalrik Eklof: Unless they bonded over a some sort of forced scenario (life-or-death experience, etc), they will probably be distant friends if not simply acquaintances. While Quiane would respect him and his abilities, they seem to have little in common. Even this respect however would not naturally turn into friendship due to his bad temper and talent for destruction.
Miron Renwick: If they had attended the same school, they would probably know each other through class as some of their strengths and weaknesses in the subjects seem to be shared. However, they don't and probably will not become friends unless they are forced to through a life-or-death thing again. His prankster attitude in combination with his arrogance would irritate her and he would probably make fun of her and her friends, thus making her very unfriendly towards him.
Veronica Fay: I can definitely see them as friends, maybe even close ones. They both share a similar heritage (though I'm not sure if Veronica is a half-blood or muggle-born), an affinity for Transfiguration and weakness in Herbology. Their friendship would probably be a quiet and calm one given how Veronica seems like a dreamer but may have some differences in opinion over Care of Magical Creatures. I imagine a certain amount of teasing to be involved in communicating these disagreements as neither seem to be the sort to outright argue over it.
Vincent Renwick: Quiane would be a bit put off by his cockiness, seeing him fall asleep in History of Magic would make her smile a little. They may get to know each other better in Defense Against the Dark Arts as that is a shared strength but her lack of enthusiasm in Herbology would mean they probably wouldn't be close. Some sort of comradery probably exists between them. I can seeing them bonding a bit over boredom in History of Magic and quite happily dueling in Defense Against the Dark Arts. But his arrogance may grate on her at times and put distance between them.
Koia Hudson: It's not that they wouldn't get along after getting to know each other, but it's the getting to know each other part that may be difficult. Unless Koia opens up to Quiane at some point during their stay at Hogwarts, they will never be anything more than passing acquaintances. They also don't seem to share many interests which would make bridging that gap very tough.
Matthieu Oliver: They share strengths and weaknesses but also have some swapped around. It's why I can definitely see them as pretty good friends: they share enough interests (COMC, DADA) and dislikes (History) to have kick-started their initial friendship but can help each other in their weaker areas (Charms for Quiane and Transfiguration for Matthieu). Since she is muggle-born, Quiane only learnt that his mother was the Charms professor after she met Matthieu and could decide his merit for herself. Even as much as she dislikes detention, I can imagine that she may have had a few helping in fights when someone hurts him.

| This is through Veronica's eyes, and what she thinks about each Beauxbaton Character. Quiane Durand She is the reflection of the moon in the clear night sky. Veronica sometimes goes out of her way to see the reflection of the sun, shining in that face of hers. They sit in silence frequently around a fountain just listening the babbling water cascade in the pool below, and listening to the chirping birds in the trees. Vincent Renwick He is the jester with many masks. He plays the show, dazzling the spectators with his whims, drawing them where he wants them before turning them into puppets for his show. Veronica holds no interest with his bedazzled and charm as she shuffles herself down the halls of Beauxbaton. But once the spotlight is not on him, and he is his genuine self, his true charm shines through. Even Veronica could not help herself but take notice. Matthieu Oliver He is the 2 year old terror, throwing tantrums when something doesn't go his way, but enthralled by the attention it brings so he can't help but do it again and again. He isolates himself from Beauxbaton as a whole, even Veronica who is just as isolated does not approach him. He will fade like bones to dust in the presence of time in Veronica's eyes. | |
