COMC Basic Level Lesson #1

As Jackson struggled with his words a piece of Eleonora's heart melted. He seemed like a good kid and she wished there was something she could do to make him feel more comfortable. She would make sure to keep and eyes open for anything she could do to help if needed. With a pang of sorrow she realized he reminded her a bit of herself at that age. Luckily the creatures they were working with this year were not very difficult and his blindness shouldn't pose too much of an issue if his other senses were fine.

"It's ok about being late today, and thank you for saying after to ask your questions. What can I answer for you?"

Jackson smiled. "Er, do puffskeins make noise? And would it be alright if I tied a jinglebell to its fur?" He might have a jinglebell in his trunk, and if not, he should be able to Conjure one pretty easily. Would that be Charms or Transfiguration, though? Probably Charms.

Eleonora reached down and stroked the the puffskein in front of Jackson. A soft cooing noise was emitted, almost like a purr. "They do, when they are happy or feeling distressed. There's a slight difference in their tone depending on how they are feeling." She continued to pet it, the sound growing warmer. "I've seen people keep them as pets with little collars around them so a bell should be no problem at all."

Eleonora placed the puffskein back by Jackson's hand and straightened up. "Is there anything else I can help with?"

"I'm good." Jackson smiled. "Er, do you have any, um, questions for me?" People usually had questions. He shouldn't need much extra help in this class, but it was still good to talk about it first.

Eleonora didn't feel it was her place to pry into Jackson's life. If he had anything he wanted her to know he would tell her, she wasn't going to ask about his blindness or how he dealt with it. It was his business and she would let him explain as he saw fit. It was not that she didn't wonder or care, but that she respected others privacy, students included.

"That's all, Mr. Smith. Please don't hesitate to come to me for anything though, I'd gladly help." With that Eleonora retreated to the front table to collect her things and tidy up after the class.

"Thank you, professor." Jackson smiled and put his hand on the desk, palm up. The puffskein walked right on and he gently placed it in his robe pocket before leaving the classroom.
