No Rhyme or Reason [Lacetta&Vanity]

Vanity loosened his tie as he walked through the streets. He had come here to check out a suspicious character that had been seen lurking around the streets, but so far he couldn't find him.
So he decided he'd take this time to do whatever he wanted-- and what he wanted was a triple scoop icecream cone and a bagful of candy and toys. His shined shoes tapped along the streets, completing the crisp look of a business man that didn't quite fit the man's personality.

Walking about with a bag in her hand, Lacetta smiled at the fresh air. She had been out, running a few errands for the school. Mostly the nurses office, of course. Lacetta had bought the simple things that couldn't be made, as Luke so kindly did with his potions. She also decided to go a bit out of her way to look for tea for Eirina, as well as seeds for Sorrow and ingredients for Luke. She was coming up a bit short and unlucky, but Lacetta was rather determined to use her time away from the school to help out those she was close to.

"Faeries, I'm rather lost. Do you mind showing me the way?"

She had spoken to the sky, hoping for an answer.

The wavy golden locks, the narrow shoulders, the timid voice.
He recognized her immediately.

"I'd love to!" He wrapped his arm around the girl, careful not to accidentally brush her hair with the icecream. He easily towered over her, lips drawn into a broad grin and eyes bright. It was strange, they hadn't seen each other in a long time, in fact, they hadn't talked much when they were around-- but he still felt familiar with her, like they had been close friends their whole life.

The voice was strange. Familiar, and strange; it certainly wasn't that of a faerie. At first Lacetta had thought it was the wind, creating odd voices that grew in her mind. A hand had touched her, and she pulled in her breath quickly. Fearies shouldn't be that big! They were rather small, she had thought.

Nearly jumping, Lacetta followed the arm to whom is belonged to. She looked up, higher into the air, and could only smile.

"Vanity! Oh how lovely it is to see you, have you been well? I do hope so. And you're so tall!"

His eyes lit up at the mention of his height, pride swelling in his chest.
Someone noticed!
Vanity nodded his head quickly, lips drawn into a broad grin, giving her a small squeeze, then releasing her. "Yeah, I grew a couple more inches after Hogwarts-- apparently you don't stop growing till you're twenty-six!" He felt tall and mature and sexy.
Yeah, real sexy.
He continued to smile and nod, lose in his own thoughts about his relation to height and attractiveness.

A giggle escaped from Lacetta's lips, something that she couldn't really help. Vanity was still just as funny as she could remember him. She may not have talked to him too much, but they had shared a common room. She could also recall seeing Vanity and Sorrow together, they were quite cute as well. Vanity always had something comical to do, and Lacetta rather enjoyed how sweet the boy was. Though, he certainly wasn't the boy she remembered with his height and all.

"I wish I could keep growing, I feel quite short next to you!"

"Aw, well-" He bent his knees, allowing himself to shorten down to Lacetta's height. "Oh man...I can't see shit down here." He commented, squinting lightly, lips drawn into a small smile. He was just teasing the poor girl by now, he'd always been pretty puny as a kid-- too much soda and caffeine stunting his growth for a nice chunk of time.
"You should invest in stilettos."

Giving him a funny look, Lacetta questioned his choice in shoes. She'd hardly be able to walk! She would be taller, though Lacetta couldn't see much else of a benefit besides that. Her feet would hurt, she was sure of it, and she was questioning whether she would be able to hurry in case of any emergency in the Hospital Wing.

"That doesn't seem like quite the good idea, if you ask me."

"Alright, alright- I see what you mean- so how about this--" He straightened himself up and took a lick of his icecream, staring at Lacetta seriously. "You can buy two hookers-" Hookers were his solution for everything. "-and have them carry you around on their shoulders. Not only will you be taller, but you'll look awesome!"

Pulling back, Lacetta gave Vanity a strange stare. It seemed like an odd thing to say, although she must have looked at bit more at who it was that she was speaking to. Buying two hookers though, it hadn't seemed quite right.

"Hookers? I'd much rather not..."

"...Buy two escorts...?" He paused, tapping his chin thoughtfully. "Oh, wait, it's the ethics you're concerned about, isn't it?" Vanity took a second to try and come up with a better solution. "Oh, I got this! Buy two mail-order brides! That way it's okay, because you're married to them!"

(I see nothing wrong with this logic...)

Smiling, Lacetta shook her head and laughed. She certainly wouldn't be winning this, so she might as well just let it be and let herself laugh.

"No, but thank you. I'll certainly consider it an option for later!"

She paused, looking back up at the sky for a moment.

"What have you been keeping yourself busy with recently?"

He gave the other a small shrug. "Not much, I'm kind of like...the coffee-boy for the ministry, so I do stuff for the higher-ups mostly." He returned to his ice cream with a smile. "And when I have time, I just, ya know... Get junk food."

Giving Vanity a curious look, she wondered a bit about the Ministry in her mind. She didn't know much about it, only that Headmistress Eirina had opted out of being involved with them. Lacetta wondered if Vanity enjoyed what he did.

"Do you ever wish that you did more, possibly? Maybe that you were a higher up?"

"I'unno- there's a lot of things I wish I could've done...or be." He finished off his ice cream and used his free hand to twist and tug at his tie. "But, like...I just enjoy being able to help out... I like to think that, well, if I try real hard, then I can help people out.... Sure, coffee-making isn't glamorous, but I'm giving them a boost and giving them more time so, like...Second-hand help." He rambled, head tilted to one side, attempting to word his feelings.

A soft smile protruded from Lacetta's lips. He enjoyed the helping, helping others was what he found to be the most joyous. It truly was something that Lacetta loved to hear. Helping people was one thing that she placed at the top of her list. She'd much rather help others then herself, it was more rewarding that way. And Lacetta loved to see the faces of those who have been helped. It was truly a wonderful thing.

"That's so sweet, quite very sweet actually. I'm glad to hear that you like helping others."

That smile was contagious-- soft, delicate, perfect. He matched the gentle curve of her lips with that imperfect, crooked grin of his own. Just being around that girl made him happy, despite her petite frame, she still had an ability to warm him. The smallest things made her happy and, in turn, made him happy.

"How's Hogwarts doing?" He questioned with a smile, head tilting to one side. "What's it like teaching there?"

Closing her eyes, Lacetta took in a a breath of the fresh air of the outdoors. Beautiful, that's the first word that had come to her mind. Though, Lacetta was sure it would hardly make much sense, even she couldn't quite articulate it. Rather, she just started to go on, using whatever words came first to her mind.

"I don't really have the opportunity to teach, though the students are lovely. They're so eager, and all so kind. I believe they know the true meaning of magic, more then just what their wands can carry. It's a lovely thing, really. To watch Luke and Sorrow as they teach, it's truly something to admire. Beautiful in every way possible."
