The Study

Seemingly the only tidy room in the house. There are a few bookcases completely stuffed with strange reading material. Madison's Desk is the only messy spot in the room, since papers are scattered among the desk.

*Professor Reid was sitting at her desk, busy reading through several books at once. Gem was on a perch by the window. Without Hogwarts, Professor Reid simply became a hermit, and would probably go insane if she didn't communicate with another being soon. Of course, she was hardly ever going to admit that*

There's got to be something I can do... but... no... I'm clueless!

*runs hand through her messy hair and sighs heavily as she closes her eyes and ponders through her options*

*anger and frustration flashes through her eyes, and shortly after the books go flying across the room and slammed into the wall, then landed loudly on the floor. Professor Reid was now standing, and she swiftly grabbed her hat and left the room. Gem flew after her, landing on her shoulder*

*walks in and starts looking through the many shelves*

She must've had a change of heart if she's returned home... Helping the order seemed like such a big deal to her...

*her hand stops on a large text book that had the title 'Exploring the Dark Arts' labeled along the spine. With a moment of hesitation, Madison pulled it out and flipped it around before sliding it back into place, so the binding was no longer showing. She then continued browsing*

*leans against the bookcase with a thoughtful expression*

It couldn't be because she missed father... maybe she felt something was wrong?

*sighs and rubs eyes*

Something's definitely off about this.

*she glances to Gem for a moment, then moves to her desk and starts writing a letter*

*she finished the letter then held it out to Gem, who then flew over, grabbed it, and flew out the window.*

*about an hour later, the owl returned, dropping a letter onto the desk before returning to her perch. Madison immediately opened it up and read the single sentence scribbled across the parchment*

"No..." *she breathed*

*she crumpled up the paper and stood up, pacing back and forth, and covering her face with her hands*

*stops after awhile, her hair falling over her face*

"Impossible!"

*swings her armback, sending a bookcase smashing into the wall. Her hand trembled as she clenched her wand*

*After a few minutes had passed, Madison was standing in the center of what remained of the study; she had already basically destroyed everything in the room, and now, as she fell to her knees, her wand slipped from her grasp and slid across the floor, until it stopped near the door. Madison was now completely silent, having drained herself of all rage; all that remained was the fact that she now knew her mother was dead.*

*Madison glanced around the room, and her eyes widened as she realized how out of control she had gotten, and she quickly gets up and leaves the room after retrieving her wand*

*Madison walked in and glanced around what used to be the study; things were still a wreck from the last time she was overwhelmed with emotions. She stepped forward, picking a worn book off the floor*

*she began gathering all of the surviving books, and once she was done, she left the room with a heavy heart*

*Fully dressed, Madison walked in and began repairing the study, not having anything better to do. Her face was expressionless, but she moved about the room rather slowly, her feet dragging*

*When she finally finish with the room, she sat down at her desk and sighed heavily. But then she thought of her father, and after thinking it over plenty, she decided she needed to put up protection around him. She got up and walked out*

*Madison sat at her desk listening to music on a muggle electronic as she started going through paperwork, planning her lessons for the new term*

*Madison stopped and held out her arm as Gem flew in and perched on her arm, and Madison began stroking Gem, smiling*

"Good to see you're okay."

*Gem moved to Madison's shoulder as she stood and walked around the study, stroking Gem's feathers and staring out a window*

*Tempted to get outside for some fresh air, Madison turned and left, and Gem flew to her owl perch*

Madison stood near her desk, staring at several documents and newspaper clippings pinned to the bare wall. She leaned on her chair as she started pinning up more newspaper clippings, all revolving around crimes from wanna be Death Eaters or the real deal. Most of the really old newspapers had the name Reid spread across them. She had documented all of her mistakes from when she first started at Hogwarts, it was sort of like a therapy to her, having proof of how horrible her grandfather was, right out in front of her. It confirmed to her that it wasn't a dream or illusion, and that she still had a chance at being good. She never blamed her grandfather fully for her crimes, but he sure didn't help, that was a fact.

The other documentations were mainly that of recent, some unimportant, crimes that the Daily Prophet had printed. She had a habit of comparing the new crimes to that of her own, to help her think like the old Maddy. It was a dark tactic, but she had to do what she did best; if she could think like the Death Eaters, she was that much closer to helping the Order. Though she had just finished a mound of Order paperwork she had slipped away from the hideout, she didn't feel it was enough.

After about an hour of reading, rereading, and scratching out unimportant information, Madison found herself sitting down in her chair, still staring at that cruddy wall, simply calculating several strategies and routes the capture of Timothy might need. It might have seemed generous of Madison to be working so hard, but all she really wanted was a distraction. It was Madison's responsibility to tell Leo about Lamia, and frankly, she wasn't sure how to go about doing so. But she hadn't exactly given it much thought either... She sighed, "How arrogant..." She mumbled to herself. She couldn't just simply push it off like a child ignoring her chores. With a bit of reluctance, she spun her chair around to face the desk and pulled out her quill and wrote a short, simple little note, stating that she needed to speak with Leo whenever he had the chance. She wrote in her natural scrawly cursive, and once she had finished, the letter disappeared with a pop. There was nothing dangerous in the letter, so there was no risk of slipping information. She would have preferred to send the letter by owl rather than direct magic, but sadly, she hadn't seen Gem in months. The bird had taken its loyalties to Madison's father the day Madison stormed out of his house, and hadn't returned since.

Madison was aware that her house was a bit of a mess, especially the study, but its not like she was holding a tea party or a pleasant conference. Ravenclaw trinkets and wall decorations were scattered about the study, almost everything had a coat of dust covering it, and papers were loose and free along her desk and the floor around her desk. At least if Leo got mad, he might slip on something before he can do any harm to her. Violence was simply the reaction Madison expected because she believed she deserved it. With a sigh, she spun her chair back around so she could continue staring at the wall of newspaper clippings.
