| The soft grass of the training grounds was bright in the newly spring sun, stretching their arms toward the light that fed them from a deep, deep sleep over the winter. It was practically empty outside, many of the kids probably studying for their OWLs or NEWTs. There was so little energy, familiar energy that is, that roamed the outside. There was just that of the newly born nature, trying to find its place again after such a long and cold winter.
Ella had walked about, taking in a deep breath of the air, eyes closed. It was so similar to winter in that aspect, that when she opened her eyes she could hardly believe that it was spring. She could hardly believe that the colors before her were so real, that she could touch it and remain in shock. White had clouded her eyes for so many days, she was sure she'd have turned color blind. Perhaps that she was dreaming.
Her casual braid sat across her shoulder, her hat fighting the gentle gusts of wind that would round the tight corners of the castle. She hardly remembered what to wear in spring, and still had on long pants. Jeans so tight it was hard to imagine that they'd be able to come off, rolling up her sculpted calves, her apple-like hips. She had on a tank top, it was the easiest thing for her to wear, and through on a wide knitted sweater. One where the breeze could easily soak in through the fabric, through the mesh holes, and graze across her skin. She was unsure if it would cool her skin, or chill it, but either way she was stuck with what she wore.
Little thought had crossed her mind as to where Jett was, she hadn't known, and she wasn't particularly looking for him. The moment of going outside had struck her, and so her thoughts had drifted to things other than their picnic for the moment. But, surely, Jett would appear, and her attention, her eyes, her lips, would be only for him.

| It was a rare afternoon that Jett was not seated in the library, his nose in a pile of books in preparation of his upcoming NEWTS. Today was such a day, and though a nagging voice in the back of his mind was continuously scolding him for taking the time off, he was looking forward to enjoying his free time. Already he could feel the good the sun and fresh air was doing him, even if it was clouding his mind of the facts and spells he so tenaciously held on to. He walked with a slow, even pace through the courtyard and out into the training grounds, his eyes roaming the area for what his heart was looking for.
One of the few things that could distract him from his studies was the lure of social activities with those who held that spark in him, and that was the reason he was out of the castle this afternoon. When the morning sun had rose and promised a lovely day Jett acted impulsively and asked the beautiful Ella to join him later that day out on the grounds for a lunch time date. Now nearing the time mentioned, he held in one hand a basket full of picnic foods and sweet butterbeer he had gathered from the overly helpful house elves in the kitchens. When he told them he wished to have a picnic out in the spring sun they had started falling over themselves in eagerness to fulfill his requests.
When Jett spotted the graceful motion of Ella walking through the dewy grass of the training ground his forward momentum halted and he could only stand where he was and gaze at her distant form. Even from across the yard she shone in the bright sun, a halo of nearly angelic proportions seeming to emanate from the sun hitting her porcelain skin. The kiss of a warm breeze stirred him from his trance and he shook his head as if to clear the fog that had gathered. With measured steps he strode directly over to her, not letting any other distractions enter his field of vision.
He reached her with a winsome smile stretched across his face, his hair carefully ruffled into perfection, and the green of the newly sprouted grass mirroring his eyes. The basket he carried was set down gently on the grass before he leaned in to greet Ella with a swift kiss on either cheek, as was taught to him at a young age the proper way to greet friends and family. He then took a step back to better take in the glamor that was Ella; she looked even more stunning this near and he his eyes were unable to break from her face as he spoke. “Good afternoon, Ella. You are a vision today. Thank you for meeting me here, I do hope I have not left you waiting too long.” Sweet words, coated with his calm and even tone.

| Her vision was disrupted when a boy came out, his features matching those that she had remembered, visually, however they created so much more feeling that felt new time and time again. Her heart stammered as she saw the deep pools of his eyes coming closer and closer. It was like she was swimming, deep down in the ocean, looking above her to where the waves shook overhead, to where the sun beat down on her. He came closer, and it was as though she were reaching for the top, feeling her breath becoming less and less until he was there, until she broke the surface so that she could finally breathe.
His soft lips sat so peacefully on his face, Ella had the overwhelming urge to wage a war on them. And his kisses, gentle, warming, she was sure that her muscles were starting to lose their strength. There was this feeling, such an odd feeling, that being around Jett had caused her. Had entranced her into. She knew what magic was, but with him, she could feel it.
A sly smile crossed her face as she received the kisses from Jett, her mind playing at her body. She would fight how she felt, go against the feeling that overwhelmed her body like a child pouring a glass of water, where they become so anxious, so excited, that they inevitably overflow the glass, and the water seeps down the sides and pans out on the table below. She would not let such a thing take over her, no, she wouldn't have it. She'd fight to be who she always was, no matter how this strange boy made her feel.
She wanted to play.
"Long, but maybe not too long. Perhaps too short, really."
A few stray pieces of hair had escaped from her hat, falling into her face. She lifted her fingers, thin and long, and gently glided them across her olive skin, carefully placing her glowing locks behind an ear. SHe allowed for a smile to cross her lips, pursing them as she did so, allowing for the sun to kiss her plump skin, capturing the joy that slid. She tilted her head a bit as she did, her braid hanging toward the ground with all of the weight of her long, thick hair that otherwise would have flown, curling toward the grasses. Her neck was exposed, empty and smooth, trailing down into her soft skinned shoulders. She knew what she was doing, a glimmer in her eyes displaying all too well the satisfaction of her motions, the expectancy as she gazed at Jett.

| Ella spoke in polite riddles and it more than intrigued Jett. He could appreciate the subtle intellect she did not boorishly throw about in her words, but let permeate everything that crossed her cherry lips. “While I would be loath to disturb you if you were so enjoying yourself, I can not say I would now, after seeing you, turn away to let you continue to enjoy your solitude. It would simply be too much for my heart to bear to walk from this spot with out your hand in mine.” He spoke like honey flowing, thick with well meant compliments.
Jett was fascinated by the way the sun shone on Ella's sandy hair, the way that it seemed to adsorb the light and reflect it back, somehow brighter than before. As she reached up and casually notched a stay piece behind her hair he wished it was his fingers, his touch, that was doing so. He recalled the time he had run his hands through the cascade of thick silky hair and the way it warmed his fingertips. It was known to him that Veela's hair was magical, but for the life of him he could not name one Veela he knew that had hair half as lovely as Ella's. She tilted her head slightly forward in comfort and her braid draped her shoulder, hanging heavily in the air before her. If he did not look away then he would need to reach out and touch it; Jett could hardly deny himself when such beauty entrapped him. He was able to do so, though, with the thought that he had all afternoon to let his urges manifest.
“Shall we find a suitable place to make ourselves comfortable for the afternoon?” He picked up the basket again with one hand and with the other gently took hold of Ella's. Her skin was warm from the sun and so very soft. He wondered idly what moisturizer she used.
They walked the length of the training grounds until they reached a small grove of trees that offered shade and seclusion. Beneath the canopy of new leaves, not yet the size they would remain when summer rolled around, Jett let go of Ella's hand with reluctance. “I believe this spot will offer privacy from any wandering eyes out today. Without the distractions of idle chatter from passing students I will be able to focus on the only thing that matters this afternoon.” Jett gave Ella his most charming smile, one that made anyone looking at it feel like they were the only other person in the universe besides Jett himself. That was how he felt at this moment, truthfully.

| Ella contained herself, however she was still shocked at his forwardness, at his hand in hers. His soft hand, strong hand. Much larger than hers, hiding her thin nails from her own eyes. A hand of a protector, and she couldn't let herself succumb to the thoughts. The touch, it killed her willingness, it hurt her game. She didn't want to lose herself so completely to this boy, this beautiful, handsome boy.
But Jett didn't seem to notice her as she tried to slip from his grip, her hand unable to escape the warm grasp of his. It was only once they had made it, to the tree that is, that she could find this odd comfort in being herself, to herself, when he no longer touched her. And it was such an odd feeling, because she loved it. She longed for it. Like the winds were pushing her towards him, her skin crawling with desire. But it wasn't her, it couldn't be her, could it? Even she, now, was so unsure of who she was.
With Jett, Ella was lost. Lost in him, lost from herself.
Staring at her own finger, she watched closely as they stretched and retracted, interesting in her own workings around Jett. She'd freeze when she looked at him, felt like honey when he touched her, slow yet controlled in just the right way. It felt like a spell, but she knew better than that. She'd have known, if it were a spell that it. Ella was not so dim to something as such, magic was a thing she knew well. But this, this was magic, it had to be, as she felt the glitter transform on her skin, but not her magic. Not her wand, not another's. It wasn't something she knew.
She caught sight of Jett from the corner of her eyes, acting as though she were still observing her hand. His skin was tan, rocky, reminding her of a secluded beach. He relaxed her, made her feel uncontrollable, something that was something she never felt before. She knew everything that she did, every action that she'd perform, and yet around him, she didn't know.
His eyebrows were thick with love, concern, his eyes matching so well in they way they softly puffed from his skin. Even the way he blinked, the way he stared, she felt it all bubble up inside her blood, the air bubbles popping here and there, sending shocking waves to coarse through her unsuspecting body. And his smile....she had to look away. Up, to the leaves that fluttered above her head, where the smallest streams of light fought their way through. She felt like that light, fighting its way through the life that secured it, the leaves that she gave life to, that loved her for it. Yet she'd still have to fight her way through.
"Lunch is very important, it should hold your focus well." She smiled a nice smile, even knowing the taunts that she had behind them. But she couldn't let herself stare into his smile, she couldn't be the fish to get caught in the net. Not yet, not until she knew whose net it was.
Ella wasn't usually so witty in her retorts, but the situation seemed to call for a few, and she'd have to blame her time spent with Temple, too. The girl whose every words was dosed with wit and sarcasm as she spoke. She loved her, however that hadn't meant that Ella needed to be her. But in this moment, Ella thought it may have helped her to contain herself, to listen to her mind, opposed to following her body.

| Jett laughed at Ella's quip, the sound pleasant in the sanctuary of leaves. Her playful banter may have inwardly thrown him off, yet on the outside he responded as effortlessly as usual. “You are of course right, Ella. Lunch is paramount to getting through the rest of the day with the required energy. I only hope my company is as energizing and satisfying as the food.”
Giving Ella a moment of reprieve from his attention, as he knew most people tended to need after some time, Jett opened the basket he had brought and removed a blanket from within. He carefully laid it over the grass, making sure the two of them had a dry place to sit that was not going to get their clothes dirty. Jett could not abide grass stains or dirt on his clothes. When he was finished he looked back to Ella with an inviting expression.
He was having a hard time keeping as tight a control on his veela aura as he usually maintained. He would concentrate on it for a moment, making sure it was pulled close to him so Ella would not suffer from what so many others felt as an oppressive desire to be close to him. He did not want her to feel that due to his blood, but only due to her own feelings for him as a person, as himself. Still, it was hard for him to control it every moment and he could feel his grip slipping when he let his guard down to watch Ella with fascination. It was a hassle that never failed to leave Jett exhausted by the end of the day, but it was something he had known his whole life, and was surprisingly capable of dealing with. Besides, he wanted to exercise caution today with Ella in terms of his veela powers; as far as he knew she did not know of his parentage, and he would rather she first liked him for him before informing her of it.
Deep in thought over the situation, Jett had not realized his eyes had yet to move from Ella's face. He quickly covered up his distraction with a grin and reached up to ruffle his fingers through his hair. “Excuse my staring, please. I find it hard to look away from you.”
Contrary to his words, Jett turned to the blanket now laying on the ground. He motioned his arm for Ella to take a seat before he followed suit, sitting next to her instead of across. His hands were mere inches away from hers as they rested on the ground, a sign that should she care to take his hand as he had hers earlier it was more than welcome. After they were both settled he focused the conversation back on her, wishing to hear how she had been doing lately.
“Tell me, how are your studies going? I feared you may have been too busy preparing for your OWLS to enjoy lunch with me today, but I was happily mistaken.”

| (sorry for the short reply >.<)
"I can only hope as much, as well."
She had turned her head to look at him, her neck gracing around her body until her eyes could just touch him at their corners. Her body remained mostly turned, her hips holding up her upper body, which seemed so light in comparison, like the network of roots that help up the much lighter, airier tree.
He soon followed her with a new compliment, and it always felt like a tease of sorts to Ella. The words, she could feel them on her skin, crowding around her body. Like rain drops, slowly sinking in, sending this wonderful and dangerous chills throughout her body. They made her smile, even now, as she danced a battle within herself. She had not been the kind to find love. No, she wouldn't say that, this wasn't love, it couldn't be. But still, it were different, she had not felt such a dedication to someone before, a connection that could be painful to cut. Before, at least, she'd have friendly remarks and smiles, a hook up that meant little more than friendship, and that were it. Back to friends, because it was just something fun to do.
Ella watched as Jett motioned to the cloth that now covered the ground, and she smiled at his courtesy. With a light nod, she took a seat, slowly allowing herself to sink further and further into the ground, until her body lay flat, her neck curving up to look at Jett, her head resting on her cheek as her elbow dug further into the ground.
"Feared? Is there something to fear about me, worth fearing over?"

| A pleasant breeze fluttered the leaves above Jett's head, and played through his hair until it swayed like the branches. It felt cool and refreshing on his skin, like a breath of spring sent to revive him from his dust and book addled state. He watched Ella as she took a seat next to him, enjoying the way her limbs moved under the clothes she wore. When she spoke he let his eyes rest on hers, and only wander when it was his turn to reply.
“To fear about you? Only the fear that you may one day disappear into the wind, proving only to have been a passing dream of mine.” His lips parted in a smile, knowing all too well it was more often he that would fade from another life before they were ready to say goodbye.
“Worth fearing over, of course. It would be a great loss if anything other than the best happened to you, whether it be academic, as such, or heaven forbid a more emotional or physical ailment.” Here he paused, considering his words. It would not do to have Ella believe him belittling her abilities to deal with such matters if they did happen to arise. He gave her a slightly apologetic smile. “I do not mean to say you are incapable of caring for yourself, but only that I would fear for you regardless.”
The curve of her neck caught his eye, and he found himself gazing at it during the natural pauses of conversation. Her skin, so like cream, seemed to him to be begging to be kissed and caressed, and Jett could hardly keep his mind focused. It was as it always was – his instincts craved to be let loose, to do as they willed. If he were not so adept at reigning in his desires he would more than certainly be fawning over Ella and laying on too thick a charm. It would be so easy to let go. She was not likely to stand a chance against the full force of his veela aura, and when she inevitably fell prey to it, Jett could taste the sweetness of her neck as much as he liked.
Just the passing thought of it, though, soured his stomach. A slight frown creased his brow before he willed it away. That was not who he wanted to be; was not, in fact, who he was. So he kept a tight hold on his baser feelings, and pushed onward.
“It occurs to me I know little about you, other than the grace and beauty you carry yourself with. If you would do me the honor, I would be very interested in learning more. For instance, what is it that brightens those luminous eyes of yours so? Or are they always so entrapping, all on their own?”
As he spoke Jett eased himself farther into the grass, settling on his side with his chin in his hand. The smell of the fresh grass wafted into his nose and filled his senses. It was not an unpleasant sensation, but it reminded him just where he was, and where he really ought to be. The grounds might be a nice place for a day free of responsibilities, but the library tended to always call Jett's name louder than the rolling field and trees.
