Studying for her clases had been one huge mess. After rewriting her Charms essay, Sayla had decided to go outside to the lake as a reward for getting all a day's work done. Sighing in relief, she tried to practice the Levitation Charm. Carefully, she took out her wand and a dog-eared notebook out of her school bag as well as a few pieces of blank paper. She was going to try something new today, and she thought that she could try, although deep down she knew that what she was attempting really wasn't possible, especially for someone at her level.
Nonetheless, she did well in school. It wouldn't hurt to give it a go.
Looking over her notes, Sayla took her wand gently in her hand, made the proper swishing and swooshing motions and lifted up one of the pieces of paper a foot above the floor. "Wingardium Leviosa!" Smiling, she tried to focus on her magic a bit more, expending all her energy into moving her wand and focusing onto the paper, trying to fold it like origami or something. Sayla doubted she could make it go that way.
Even so, she squinted her eyes in unadulterated focus, hoping to fold the small piece of paper into a paper boat with her beginner's magic, but the Gryffindor student had to practice if she wanted to get anywhere. She visualized her wand swiftly casting its charm onto the paper, magic tickling the wand's willow tip before caressing the paper and folding it into her desirable shape. Unfortunately, it didn't work... Quite frankly, Sayla was unsure it would work.
Maybe such a thing would not be possible, but if she could fold it with magic then perhaps Sayla could send the little paper boat sailing. Afterwards, she could try and do the same with the other pieces of paper. If something wasn't working at first, she would write down. Whatever did work, she would also neatly record the happy incident. A charms journal, huh? It was surprising she would devote herself to a task so long term, but she may or may not keep to it.
However, being like a little kid, she found the idea fascinating and cool, and Sayla firmly made a promise to herself to try and see if folding paper with magic was possible.

| Claudia had become tired of looking at the walls of Hogwarts all day. She had been stuck in her room since classes ended and she was getting rather upset with the interior of her room. She decided to take a small trip to the black lake to get some fresh air and see the scenery. She grabbed her wand and placed it in her bag before heading down to the lake.
As she came upon the lake she noticed a girl that looked to be in her 1st or 2nd year with her wand and some paper by the lake bed. Always being the curious type she began to walk over to the girl to see what she was doing. She heard the girl saying the levitation charm and couldn't think of why she was doing a charm like this as it was regarded as the first you learned, but if she was anything like herself she did the same. Practice makes perfect.
She stood behind a nearby tree to watch the girl trying to do the spell. She was intrigued by the girl at how much she reminded her of her when she was in her 1st and 2nd year at Hogwarts.

| | COUNT: 298 words TAG: Open OUTFIT: link NOTES: Backdating a year back and first thread | Hm... So maybe it was possible. The first year did a good job at creasing the ends and she pushed onward, trying to see how far she could go. First, she ended up with a hamburger style crease, meaning it was folded neatly from top to bottom. Then she did a hot dog fold from side to side. Before she had even dared to venture outside, Sayla was careful to only use 8 1/2 by 11 inch white printer paper for her little experiment with basic magic.
Then, she lightly wove her wand through the air, folding the top corners, leaving 1-2 inches of space below for good measure. The crease from the first fold was of great assistance needed to line the folded corners properly. Folding the excess paper up agains the sides, Sayla found herself crafting a little hat out of the paper before giggling to herself, not noticing that Claudia was watching her. Next, she had to fold the bottom corners in, making it look like this really sleek Dorito.
The next few steps came quickly like a storm. Sayla made a square out of the paper before folding the bottom flaps and finally making the paper a square again. Last but not least she pulled out the triangles on the sides of the square, finally creating a proper boat.
It was only then she noticed that Claudia Evans was watching her. Caught by surprise, she became too unfocused to use her magic properly and the boat was suddenly blown into the lake by a moderately strong gale. Thank goodness the poor little thing floated. "Ah, um, hello..." the first year awkwardly greeted her upper-classwoman. She tried her best to make eye contact but her eyes just get darting back furtively to check up on her precious boat.

| Claudia couldn't help but laugh at the boat the girl had made. To be honest, she was impressed. She stepped out from behind the tree and walked towards the girl. She extended her hand out for her to shake.
"I have to say im impressed. My name is Claudia, Claudia Evans. And you are?" She had the biggest smile on her face. She didn't want to frighten the girl but she loved when she saw other people do magic it was some kind of thrill when it came to magic.

| | COUNT: 262 words TAG: Open OUTFIT: link NOTES: Backdating a year back and first thread | Smiling uncertainly at Claudia, she gave a slight curtsy and replied, "My name is Sayla Axelsen. It's a pleasure to meet you, Claudia."The first year always enjoyed spending time watching the older kids at Hogwarts. A lot of the first years were boring, but only just a little bit.
She blinked in confusion as she saw the older girl laugh and walk towards her. Why was she laughing? Certainly, she wasn't one to make fun of others, no? It seemed so. From careful observations of Claudia's words, Sayla could detect that such a laugh was all meant in good spirit, though it was a bit embarrassing the first year had expected something more sinister, possibly because at her old school, she had been a laughingstock, but for the most part, only in her own eyes.
Making the little boat was more tiring than she thought. No, tinkering with a spell so easy and simple was not too hard, and there was no harm in it when she had used a small thin piece of printer paper. It wasn't like running a marathon either but it was about as exhausting as attending a boring class. It took a lot of concentration.
Shifting her weight on one foot and then the other as she glimpsed at the boat briefly, Sayla got confidence and said, "Thanks, but it's really not that impressive. Although, I wasn't sure I could do it at first, but then again it is one little paper boat. I'm sure that if someone focused enough they could do similar things with really basic spells."
