First Task: Vincent

Vincent had been evaporated from his spot on the grounds of Hogwarts, where there had been many people waiting and watching, to an empty land without any given notice about his departure. A large volcano sat in the distance, smoking a deep black smoke. The plains were empty, void of any life, and the only thing that could be seen was the volcano.

A voice, similar to Eirina's but not quite the same, echoed around Vincent, "You shall find and retrieve this container," an image of the container surfaced in a misty smoke in front of him, "and, do care to remember, not every task is as it seems. You will be tested on many things. Good luck."

Everything faded away, and now Vincent was left with himself and the landscaping.

Vincent knew he didn't have long to think. He was scared out of his mind but he couldn't doubt himself now. There had to be a simple way of going about the task, he just had to figure out how. Maybe it was far more manageable to accomplish that it looked.

He made his way to the foot of the volcano while smoke continued to circle it. He thought for a moment. If I were to hide such a container where would it lie. It could be in plain sight but not noticeable to an onlooker.

He shouted to no one but the volcano. "If I am to die at least I could say I was on to something right." He decided to got to the one place something obvious would lie.......The Heart of the Volcano. He wouldn't die without a fight.

The ground was starting to shake and the mountain starting giving off a thicker smoke, somehow managing a deeper color than the black it was before. A few spits of lava dripping out of the mouth of the volcano, slowly scampering down the hillside.

As the ground rumbled beneath is feet Vincent looked up to notice the smoke growing darker than it was before if that was even possible. "You have got to be kidding me!!" He stumbled backwards and pulled out his wand. He had to think of a spell that would help but came up blank. He went through all of the spells he could remember in his head. He pointed his wand at the slithers of lava traveling down the side of the volcano "Aqua Eructo". If that didn't work he would have to come up with a plan B.

The spell worked, however a large amount of smoke was created that covered the surrounding area with a dense smoke screen.

Vincent coughed from the dense smoke. If he didn't die of lava he would most likely suffocate from the smoke. He had to find a way to get inside the volcano unharmed and fast. "There has got to be a way to get in!!!" He had his wand ready incase any more lava came down unexpectedly. Could this challenge get any worse.

The lava started to pour out faster and faster, overlapping over what had already dried.

Vincent saw lava pouring out of the volcano. "And it just got worse." He quickly casted a flame-freezing charm and tried to find an entrance to shield from the downpour of lava. He thought he spotted a small opening just big enough for him to squeeze into but he didn't know if he could make it. He would have to buy himself time. He pointed his wand. "  Glacius" He could probably have enough time to reach the opening but it would take time to get through if it even lead into the volcano at all.

The lava froze, becoming ice, but more lava continued to move slowly down the mountain, some even coming overtop of the frozen ice and simply creating more, large mounds of hot lava.

Vincent made a mad dash for the small opening. It looked unstable but it was better than burning to death. He went rather slowly through the small tunnel like entrance. Hopefully it lead to the heart of the volcano and not a river of lava. He had full determination to find that container and nothing would stop him..............hopefully.

Vincent soared through and into the volcano, with a flash of heat that turned to ice within moments. Now, Vincent was located in an icey landscape, in front of him was a block of ice that contained the container that he was searching for, and just behind that was a large, large manticore.

Vincent saw the container in a block of ice where you could clearly see it. He tried to catch his breath when he saw the manticore that was close by. Well he knew it wasn't going to be easy. He had heard a little about the manticore and knew that one sting from their tail was deadly and killed you instantly. He knew he had to find its weakness or a weak spot, then he could possible try to see if the impediment jinx would work on it. He watched carefully as he stepped not to get too close but tried to see if he saw any place that the manticore was weakest. It had to be somewhere.

At the moment that Vincent appeared, the creature stared him down, approaching with a snarl, brows furrowing at Vincent's presence.

Vincent aimed his wand at the beasts chest between his legs and shouted "Impedimenta". He was a little frightened but he tried to show little fear. He had to defeat the giant beast or at least slow him down so he could get the container. He was going to show his cousin what he was made of.

Completely unaffected by the charm, the manticore charged Vincent, growling and "tail" flailing.

Vincent knew he was in trouble. He ran from the manticore trying to stay away from his stinger. He thoguht the only place the Maticore could possibly be weakest was its mouth. He was pretty sure that the stinger couldn't reach that far. He began walking towards the Manticore with his wand ready. He waited until the manticore's mouth was open. If the spell didn't work he would have to run with no time to lose. "Aqua Eructo" He watched as the water went into the manticore's mouth. He hoped it would slow it down. He couldn't think of anything else unless he just ran around until he had a chance to get to the container and that would be one of the last things he did.

The manticore, hardly affected by the spell, roared and began to run after Vincent with its tail jolting forwards as it tried to poison him.

Noticing that he had made the situation worse Vincent knew that he was going to have to think fast. He ran a good distance away from the manticore. He would need to distract it  long enough to get the container free from the block of ice. Vincent noticed a ledge of ice above the now moving manticore. He hade to think fast for a spell. He pointed his wand at the ice. "Bombarda".

The manticore tried dodging the ice, which it did successfully, however it slipped and skidded for some time across the ice, before regaining its balance and charging at Vincent.

Vincent was beamed back to Hogwarts, without the container that he was required to attain. His time was up, and his portion of the task was forced to end.
