| (This rp will be mostly in the Hogsmeade side of the woods, so its not like Gail's knocking on the door to Hogwarts or anything xD)
Gail's stress prevented any and all clear thought, and it only grew stronger each day, as the time for the next full moon drew near. A twitch here, a shudder there, it was clear to everyone, especially her boss, that Gail was not herself. But Madam Puddifoot lost one of her best employee's, leaving Gail, her clumsiest and least talented tea brewer, to pick up the slack. Their relationship as a boss and employee had slowly shifted from something that made sense, to something that was horribly confusing. Although the old woman proved understanding about Gail's condition, she was insistent on using methods so that Gail could cover more shifts. In fact, it was the good Madam who forked over half the funds (the other half was docked from Gail's pay) it took to cover the costs of the Wolfsbane stock so that Gail wouldn't have to leave for her monthly camping trip. When Puddifoot approached her on the matter, Gail could have written a 12 foot long scroll on all the reasons Wolfsbane was a bad idea, but she loved Madam Puddifoot dearly, not only for taking her in when no one else would, but also for treating her with so much kindness. She knew the woman was in need, and so willing to make the preparations for Gail. Although it took over a week to convince Gail, she eventually agreed to the plan.
It didn't mean she was happy with the decision however. In fact, she was far from it. She was afraid to sleep at night, couldn't even stay in her room actually. Many nights, she sat down outside, looking up and staring her fear in the face. Some of the neighbors were already concerned for her sanity. She just wanted the wait to be over, but she could only hope the wolfsbane potion was working its magic. There really needed to be some kind of red flag to warn her if she needed to get out of town in time before she turned and- it was all just so frustrating! She had to be careful to take the potion once a day, and at the right time, had to avoid anything with sugar in it, deal with the nasty taste of the potion, and even the itchy side effects it brought! Well, the itch might have just been in her head, but it didn't stop her from constantly scratching. She had to start wearing long-sleeves just to hide her red irritated skin.
She took the time now to step out back for her break, a beer in one hand, and her next dose of Wolfsbane in the other. Both she found to be medically necessary: one to, well, keep her from tearing innocent bystanders to pieces, and the other for her steadily building nerves. Every time she looked at the bottle of wolfsbane, she saw her father the same way she'd seen her on his last night. So many things could happen on a full moon, but with the when she took this potion, she felt like she was lying to herself. It didn't stop the phase from happening, either way, to anyone who saw her, she was still a wolf with the power to tear limbs apart. She knew, too- just because werewolves weren't in control when the moon showed, didn't mean they couldn't remember what happened after the fact.
She gave out a shaky breath, downing a hefty gulp of nerve medication, before she held the Wolfbane in front of her face. There was only a small portion left, the last dose before it was time. She could only hope that it worked and that things went more smoothly than she expected they would. There was no such thing a sure-fire method, not went it meant waiting around, driving yourself crazy like this. After she finished her beer, she headed back inside, leaving the bottle out where no one would find it. When her shift was over, she'd come back to it and throw it out. Though the shop didn't close until about nine or so in the evening, because the full moon was tonight, Gail was getting off work early, so she could go find somewhere quiet to spend the rest of the evening. With any luck, she would be back the next day with a humorous story about her bed-frame collapsing under her, or how she had a splitting headache because she hit the ceiling when she changed.
"I'll see you tomorrow dear!" Madam Puddifoot told her several hours later, when Gail could finally get some fresh air on her walk back to the house. She walked with her two empty bottles, carrying a nauseated feeling she was quite familiar with. She didn't have much time then, and as she looked up, she could see the orange radiating beyond the forest in the distance, where the sun must have been setting. She not only saw as darkness began to fill the sky, but she could feel it. She was growing light-headed, and she knew it wasn't the beer. But then the wave of pain shot out, and the bottle fell with a loud crash against the pavement. She could feel the beast beginning to stir, driving knots through her insides like claws through flesh. She felt like she was going to suffocate on the agony itself. She tried to contain her screams and whines, but it had come so quickly, unexpectedly. She should have had enough time to get back home, but... something was wrong.
She looked around, and back at the forest. Everywhere around her were people, people that might be dead by morning if this potion hadn't worked. Panic bubbled inside her, as her blood boiled for the adrenaline the night would bring. Her body wanted to kill, but she... she couldn't let it! She ran into the alleyway nearest her, the same place where Sorrow had told her to call. But he didn't say how! "Sorrow!" She called out to the shadows, "Sorrow I need you! I can't-" Her chest tightened, cutting her off mid sentence like she was being strangled. Finally, she screamed, "The potion's not working!" But the pain warned her that she couldn't wait for him a second longer. She turned back out of the alley, catching many alarmed gazes as she made a dash for the forest.

| ((OOC- I'll be using this color for the hippogriffs actions and thoughts so it doesn't get too confusing))
There was something off about the forest tonight. He could feel it in his bones; a coldness that infiltrated even past his thick fur and feathers. The winter wind that blew through the trees brought with it the taste of anxiety and he tested it out with his beak.
Vega lifted his feathered head from its resting place on the snow covered ground and sniffed the air. There was something faint, far away, that did not belong. Something was intruding into his territory and it was unwelcome. He could not tell what it was; the scent was unfamiliar to him. His instincts only told him it was dangerous and he must deal with it. He looked over to his brother, sleeping peacefully beside him. Polaris must not have noticed the strange scent, he was never as attentive as Vega was. Vega's glowing orange eyes watched as his brother's chest rose and fell with his great breaths. He should let him rest and see to the danger himself. He was about to rise from the snow when he remembered their companion.
She would probably be around tonight. She usually came to them every few darknesses. She had been different lately, her lips more often formed that shape he associated with her being happy. It was much better than when the wetness fell from her eyes and dripped onto his feathers. He should wait for her. The walks she followed them on through the forest were the best part of his nights. He could protect her then, as she had done for him far off in his memory. She was home and smelled of fresh spices and his fur. He would always protect her.
Tonight, though, something was calling him. He took one last look at his sleeping brother and rose onto his hoofed feet. Vega needed to be somewhere else tonight when she arrived. A prick in his ears and the way his feathers rustled in the wind told him he was needed farther away.
It was a long walk through the deathly silent forest. His ears picked up none of the usual chatter and rustling he knew so well as he traveled farther and farther into the trees. His instincts had not been wrong; something was amiss.
Tonight was colder than it had been all winter yet still Eleonora made the trudge down the lightly snow covered grounds to the forest. She was bundled in scarf and gloves, hat and coat. Her boots left a path of tracks in the snow, showing her progress. Despite the cold air she was warm in her clothes and ready for a refreshing walk. She liked the way the chill bit at her nose and cheeks, tingling its way to her nerves. It made going inside to get warm that much better.
It would be a long time before she got back inside, though. Tonight she planned to take the hippogriffs for a long jaunt through the forest in order to check on some groups of animals she had noticed earlier in the year. She wanted to see how they were faring in the winter weather and take note of their whereabouts just in case her help was needed. Eleonora had prepared for the trip, though, and a dreamy smile was on her lips as her feet crunched the snow.
When she reached the edge of the forest she found the intense orange eyes of Polaris staring at her. She quickly bowed her head to him, letting her hair fall in front of her face. When she looked back up he was standing before her, trying to nuzzle her shoulder. Her shoulder? How had he gotten so big so fast? It felt to Eleonora like merely days ago she had carried both hippogriffs on her shoulders and in her arms. But now they would be carrying her, soon. Polaris's beak came to her shoulder, his bulky body the length of a full grown horse. While still not full grown he would soon be taller Eleonora and she would be forced to lift her chin up to look at him, too. Vega, on the other hand, was quite a bit smaller. He was leaner as well, quicker. She looked around expecting to see his form joining his brother by her side.
She did not, though. “Vega?” she called, uncertain. This was something new. They two of them were always at the edge of the forest when she came to see them; they seemed to sense when she would be there. Tonight Vega was no where to be seen.
Eleonora wasn't overly worried. They were maturing and it was only natural they would start to go off on their own. One day they may even take flights across the lake and travel for days at a time. It sent a tinge of sadness through her as she thought about it. They would not need her much longer, but she would always need them.
Spotting a trail of hoof prints in the snow Eleonora smiled. She could follow Vega's route and meet up with him in the forest. She would get to see him tonight after all. “Come on Polaris, let's go get your brother.” With a pull of her scarf closer to her chin she set off after Vega and into the dangers of the forest.

| She hit the woods in several long strides, her shoes digging deep in the dirt as she leaned over into a tree. The desire to rake her face across the rough bark was all too powerful, as she latched onto her chest, groaning as the pain only grew and grew. It was a tidal wave that threatened to come crashing over her and send her spiraling into chaos. She'd gone so long without an incident that she started to become reckless about who she was, and what she could do to the beautiful people of Hogsmeade. Every day Gail woke up, she was greeted by the smiling faces that that walked the streets every day- many had come to know her by name, and she them. They were going to pay for her mistakes now, and they didn't even know it yet.
She looked up through the trees to see the moon, hiding behind dark clouds, and she screamed, her body curling in as she fell to the ground. Her hand made a move for her wand, but it froze halfway, in front of her face. Her mouth gaped open, as the electric fire consumed her, and her body was no longer hers. She watched as the hand in front of her grew pale, and the hairs along the forearm grew, spreading over the back of its hand... Claws pierced through her nails, ripping through the flesh where they hid. No matter how much she screamed, the moon gave her no mercy. It possessed her, and then the world grew black.
Her howl, it pierced the night air, a warning like no other. It said to all those who were near: Death, was calling. The beast drew her claws into tree bark as she raced through the forest, her beady brown eyes hungry for the next victim. She stopped in a moonlit clearing, as the wind changed direction, and another creature's presence made itself known. She lifted her nose to the air, her chest rising as she tasted the chilly air. Her next victim awaited, and she would waste no time getting there, as she ran through the silent forest.

| A howl like no other screamed through the silent forest and Vega's head snapped in its direction. There is was; the beast he was searching for. The sound was deep and ominous, causing every nerve in his huge body to spark into action. It was a sound like none he had heard before but unmistakably deadly.
He knew it was his duty to deal with this intrusion in the forest. The howl that made his feathers tingle was a herald of death and suffering that Vega could not allow to get any closer. He must protect his companion and those she spoke of with the same fondness she spoke of him and his brother.
With his hoofs leaving deep prints in the snow Vega increased his pace. Large muscles flexed in his legs as he ran through the trees, the moon above him shining clearly to light his way. His nose twitched as he caught the scent of the beast growing stronger; getting closer. It was moving with alarming speed toward him. Vega's wings unfolded from his back, the dark feathers matching the night sky. His wing span was longer than his body and filled the spaces between the low branches of the forest, brushing against them and breaking. Orange eyes flashed in the dim light, glowing with an intensity they had never known before.
Soon, he would be upon the creature whose howl had given its location away.
Eleonora's mind was drifting as she walked down the snow covered path. She was thinking of warm things that kept her from feeling the cold around her. She was happy and finally used to her life at Hogwarts. Things were all coming around, fitting into place. She laid a gloved hand onto Polaris's side and brushed the soft brown feathers, an absent minded smile on her face.
It was then that a howl pierced the quiet night and sent Eleonora's happy thoughts far away. Her eyes widened, body stiffened. That noise was out of place here and the preternatural silence of the forest finally registered to her. A chill that had nothing to do with the night air entered her body, pricking her flesh up. The fine downy hair on her neck stood up and her pupils expanded, trying to take in everything around her.
Polaris huffed next to her, his beak clicking together menacingly. She moved her hand to his head, a gentle pressure to calm him. “Shh, Polaris, stay quiet.” Whatever was out there did not need to be alerted to where they two of them were.
What was it, though? A wolf? Eleonora had not been aware there were wolves in the forest. In fact, this wasn't really the right habitat for them. A werewolf then? No, that couldn't be right. If there were werewolves in the area a warning would have been put out; she would have known. That left no creature that she could place to the sound, but she would find out.
Eleonora took a soft step forward. Now her thoughts were focused on her movements, doing her best to remain unheard and unseen. She would find Vega and together with Polaris they would find the source of the howl. If it was something dangerous the Headmistress and the people of Hogsmeade needed to know.

The plump body of Lady Moon swayed gently over the waters of the black lake, light reaching heavily inside the deep. Perhaps somewhere beneath the silver surface she reached so far down that she illuminated the stone statues raised by merfolk; perhaps she even made the green hair shine and brightened the grey skin of these strange aquatic beings. And as she found merpeople, surely she saw others who so often hid from daylight, but sometimes dared visit hers. Playing with the ripples that carried in the biting winter breeze, she moved her body across the sky with certain charm and reached farther across the snow-covered grounds. The Lady Moon delighted in the white that topped the trees; and though clouds shifted closer, with her light she kept their grey forms at bay. Sorrow’s eyes stayed clear as they worked their way across the painting; carefully, as if examining each stroke of the brush. It was right there before him and so dangerously enchanting, for the soft lines blurred in the sharp light. The air that filled his lungs was cold and foreboding. On his tongue he could taste something bitter and ominous. Lady Moon stared back at him and laughed or wept, or did nothing at all. He could not say, try as he might. And to try was perhaps of no use, for Sorrow could understand the moon no more than he could understand the earth, or snow, or rain. They were a touch, a pressure against his skin, and shapes before his eyes, and melodies inside his mind; but he made no sense of them. Not truly. His body was a shadow and his mind a sorrow. Those things he knew and loved and hated and was. He shifted, poked, pushed against them, himself. The shadow welcomed him in its embrace as he slipped into it, weightless, there and not, Sorrow and not. The shadow whispered to him of the things it had heard or seen. Faraway Sorrow searched for thought or image of Misery. Then others, then; nothing. Soon it spun tales and weaved a tapestry of those Sorrow did not know. His chest filled with souls other than his own and felt so heavy that he stopped, brought his mind back from the flow, and detached his body so it stood solid inside the stone chamber. At the open window, the painting stood still, just as it was before he stopped looking. Sorrow searched for stars, but they must have hidden for he found none. It can’t have been late, but nights came early and lasted long. Such was winter, Sorrow’s freedom. Things died beneath the thick layer of snow, yet winter gifted him and those who were like him; it gave energy and peace and all the night to last them through the long years. But Misery was far away and Sorrow wished she was not. They belonged to the cold in which they were born, and winter was theirs; and before this year, they had only spent it apart once. Lady Moon laughed, or wept; her smile beautiful and cruel, her tears kind as she watched over the creatures she cursed. There was a cry that lingered with him even as Sorrow had left the flow of whispers. So faint that he barely heard it, and one easily overlooked had it not addressed him personally. "Sorrow-! Sorrow I need you! I can't-" The moment he reached out to listen again it pounded violently inside his mind; Sorrow searched deeper, and after too long a time he found Gail at the end of the line. But as he attempted to respond, he found she was only an echo of a message lost in shadow. How long had it been since she called out to him? There was no time to ponder the danger of it, rather, Sorrow let himself fall inside the shadow again; this time to follow the echo, before it should be forever lost in the silence.

| Bounding through the trees, the beast had no trouble gaining distance from the forest borders- what took a mere man a whole day to get through, she passed in a few minutes. Just her size and built muscle allowed strides that no ordinary animal could match. She slowed pace and stopped between two trees, to peer out, feeling as something in the air changed. The moon gave herald to a new enemy, as it filtered into the trees to reveal the orange eyes that stared fiercely back. Her lip curled to show sharp canines, as a low growl curdled in the beast's throat. She set one paw forward, slamming it hard into the dirt as a show of defiance, challenging the bird- she could already taste the blood, already feel her claws ripping through the hippogriff's flesh.
She let out a snort, the breath appearing in the cold air, as she scanned the area around the bird, confirming that it came alone. No creature would be coming to its aid anytime soon, which only made the wolf want to move things along, so she could be done with this creature and onto the next. She stepped forward, her growl growing deeper as she stepped into the moonlight. She was fearless before her opponent, and once this threat was dealt with, all the creatures of the forest would know her strength, none would dare face her as this one did. Another step forward she took, watching for the bird's reaction as she did so, looking for a sign as to what it would do first. The patience didn't last long though, as the beast drew herself back, and leaped into the air, claws and teeth all focused in on the hippogriff.

| Bright, intelligent eyes flashed through the brush and trees, sliding the night farther and farther into dangerous territory. Vega stared back without fear into their clear depths intent on violence. He had found what was stalking his forest and intruding into his home. This creature's crimes were evident in the way it huffed and stamped the ground, marking it as his own. There was no nobility or honor in killing for killings sake or for the violence that emanated from the wolf standing before him. Such a creature had no place in this forest and Vega was the guardian this night who must eradicate it.
Lifting his head high, Vega clicked his beak together threateningly. It was a warning to stay back but the wolf did not heed it for it took another tentative step forward. It was now watching him, as he was watching it. Vega would let it take its time, plan out its moves. It would not matter in the end.
As Vega waited he felt the charged air crackle around him. The potential for death was thick and silence had descended over the two creatures, preparing for the clash of claws and talons to fill the void.
With no warning it started: the wolf sprung forward, its well muscled legs propelling it into the air. Vega reacted instantly by pushing himself into the air as well, his wings spreading and filling the spaces next to him. They were hurtling towards each other, each with their sharp natural weapons poised for attack. As they made contact in midair the crash echoed through the trees along with the shriek of Vega's charge.
The forest was even quieter as Eleonora reached its heart. A chill had settled over her even working its way past her heavy cloak and scarf. Something was very wrong and she could feel it coming to a climax around her. With a shaky hand she brushed Polaris's feather, feeling them tense on his back. He seemed to become anxious and irritated the farther they traveled as if he, too, felt the change in the forest.
About to take another step, Eleonora was stopped in her tracks by the sounds of a brutal crash coming from close by. It sent her heart thudding and, making eye contact with a now noticeably alert Polaris, she felt the shiver of terror run down her body.

Crossing the shadow to the destination that had formed in his mind's eye, Sorrow stepped solid beneath the street lights of Hogsmeade. Shadows lingered on his skin as he drew further into the darkness to follow the lines of message he had received. Further ahead would be the alley in which he had first met Gail, but he did not expect to find her there now. From there she had spoken to reach him, however, and she would have left a trail that Sorrow could recognize. As he moved nearer, the shadow showed him the echo. As he tasted the air, it offered the familiar scents.
Gail’s was never completely human but different, like his was different, of species that stood separate from the world known to those who walked in its day’s light. But as she was able to walk in both, her scent filled his nostrils with mixed aromas, of tea and of rain-blessed earth. It was a scent of human lingering in lines of something far more dangerous, led only by the most raw, animalistic senses. Sorrow stood by it a moment, tracing the way Gail should have gone, even as the wind teased and mocked, scattering her away from the narrow alley.
Soon the path was clear before him; and the grey of Sorrow’s eyes shone in storm as he moved through the village, picking apart the same ground Gail must have walked earlier. He moved off the High Street of shops and pubs and snuck past the wizarding homes. With the speed his blood offered he flitted into a wilder scenery, past the blurred trees, and to the black lake. He stopped there; across the water and to the right stood the stone walls of Hogwarts castle; to the left there was the Forest. Lady Moon cast her light over both, gliding her fingers over sheltering shadows and pushing inside the bordering cracks. There would be no rest for the tortured creatures so long as she ruled the sky.
Terrible noise moved him, a howl and a shriek. Again he was flitting, racing against time to the forest, past the front line of trees, inside its growling belly. Perhaps tonight it hungered for blood, and Moon had given it tools to deliver.

| (I'm BACK. We'll see if it lasts this time :P)
She knew she had crossed a fair opponent, as the hippogriff spread its wings out wide, nearly filling the width of the clearing they battled in. Baring her fangs nearly formed a wry smile across the wolf's face, and as the two collided, she wasted no hesitation in tearing through Vega's flesh, nor in snapping her jaws at the hippogriff's throat. This didn't at all prevent the other from landing hits on her, though, and although her own blood filled the night air as well, this wolf was relentless in its attack, pushing and forcing more weight onto the bird, forcing it backwards as she tore at its throat. This... other wouldn't be granted the light of day, and the wolf's grip with both claws and teeth did not weaken.
The hippogriff's talons though, had also buried into her fur, and was digging further and further into flesh. She naturally replied with her own increasing force, but soon it was too much, and with a high-pitched whine, she pushed the creature away with her rough paws, letting go her grip from her claws, but at the same time, tearing away more of Vega's throat as she pulled away.
As the two separated from one another, she was pulled into a daze, stumbling a few paces back. Her mind shared sight of another wolf in front of her, ripping its teeth through a pale, flimsy arm in front of her. The hazy memory seemed to share the same black night and dark trees, and the she-wolf rose her head to look at the moon in the sky, confused as to where she was. She sniffed the air with a snort, turning her attention back to Vega with a snarl, blaming the hippogriff for bringing out the wolf that wasn't there.
(Eleonora, if you want Vega to attack during Gail's daze, I'll leave the post as is, if not, I'll add a bit more! ^_^)

| Impact drove Vega crashing to the ground, his opponent locked in his grip. The wolf had his teeth in him as well and Vega could feel their razor sharp points tearing at his feathers and ripping them out in great clumps. Flesh was also thrown aside along with his skin, leaving bloody gashes pouring from his side.
The beast before him had boundless energy and muscle. It was all Vega could do to fight back, his talons grasping his enemy's lean body and tearing away at it. But he could not keep it up forever; he felt his energy waning with every hit. If only his brother were here beside him, things would be different. Polaris was much stronger than he was and would fare better in a battle against such a strong beast, but now was not that time to dwell on wishes, but the time to fight.
Vega felt the wolf's teeth sink into his throat suddenly and pull. The pain that coursed through his body then was blinding as vital pieces of his body were no longer in place but hanging from the mouth of the wolf. Blood spurted forward from the hole in his throat, coating the snow covered ground.
In his dying haze Vega saw the wolf retreat, stumble. Now was his chance. As his last act he thrust forward, talons spread wide ready to rupture and rend whatever part of this foul beast he could. In the second impact Vega could feel the damage he was causing and was proud knowing he did his best and inflicted wounds nearly as bad as he received. The red before his eyes was growing, though, and he fell forward on top of the wolf. His limbs no longer listened to his mind, he could not longer control his body. The snarling that had filled his ears was dimming and a heavy silence was taking its place.
As most animals sense better than their human friends, death was coming. The last thing Vega turned his thoughts to as life faded from him was his brother and their red haired, warm companion. He could not protect them from this threat that was now tearing into his soft insides, but he could remember them fondly and hope they were far from this place.
The noise traveling through the forest was one Eleonora knew well and it caused a cold sweat to break out on her bundled body. The voice belonged to Vega, but it was shrieking like she had never heard before. It sounded like pain brought to life and exploding out of his sharp beak, a noise so shrill and full of horror that she was momentarily paralyzed with the implications of such a call.
Then it all came back to her in one jolt and she was moving, running, to the source of the sound. No longer concerned with remaining unheard Eleonora crashed through the trees feeling their bare branches scrape and smack her face as she rushed past them. Red hair vibrant in the dark forest flew out behind her, gathering loose snaps of branches and the few remaining leaves.
If I could just run a little faster...
She had to make it to Vega. Whatever was happening to make him feel so much pain needed to be stopped. Eleonora couldn't let herself think what would happen if she did not get to her companion before something dire happened; it would be all her fault for bringing them here to this forest. She was getting closer, though, and it gave her legs an extra burst of energy, along with the urging of Polaris who was keeping pace beside her during her hectic flight.
The trees around her began to thin and she could see a clearing ahead. Eleonora sprinted the remaining distance before stopping dead at its edge, her eyes growing wide at the sight of carnage that greeted her.
"Vega!" She cried, and took a step forward towards the monstrous animal in the clearing.

He could hear the desperate echoes of the battle raging as if he were there; and yet he could not reach the area of its happening in time. Despite the ability to move faster than any human being, his body would not allow enough speed, and before he caught sight of the creatures laced in combat, he tasted their blood in the marble breath of a cruel night. Before the scarlet scent had invaded his nose, he had not known who or what it was that Gail stood against. Now as he drew nearer, he recognized the feathery aura that belonged to one of the hippogriffs; Polaris or Vega, he was not yet certain.
Finally the forms showed through the trees. The Gail he once spoke to in that narrow alley was not there; in her place stood the creature that he had recognized within her, but had not until now seen with his own eyes. She was wild under the moon; her animal anger had already eaten her human heart. On the ground beside her lay the hippogriff, no more breathing life. Sorrow could not keep enough focus on the creature to determine which of the two it was. He looked to Gail, once more seeing the werewolf where he expected to find her. Was it too much to hope she had found one brother separate from the other?
“Stand back,” he spoke loud enough so Eleonora would hear him past her shock. He kept his eyes on the werewolf, but was painfully aware of the woman positioned some distance away from him. Her presence at this time was a thousand times worse than just that of a mournful (and possibly vengeful) brother would have been. Again Sorrow spoke, “Both of you. There is nothing you can do for him now.”
The smell of blood was thick in the air; it burned at the back of his throat, teasing and daring him to join in the tragedy. The eyes of death were pleading, asking him to try and take the memories of that pitiful creature before it was too late. Sorrow entertained no thought of it, uncertain whether he could even if he tried. Vega, he had grown aware, for it was Polaris who stood with Eleonora, could perhaps have kept thoughts in form of images; but fading quickly. By the time Sorrow saw to Gail’s peace or Eleonora’s safety, the memories would have disappeared completely.
Now he stepped towards the werewolf, rising up his arms as if to capture the air before her. He showed no expression to the changed creature, for even if Gail could see him, her mind at this moment would not be able to understand it. Just as he could not see her, she would not see him. The moment he brought her attention to him, he would be announcing himself as a threat, an enemy. However difficult it was to act as such and painful to resume in the action, alas Sorrow feared, it had to be so.
“Gail,” he called out to her softly at first, and then tried again in a fiercer tone. “Look at me, Gail. I have come to you.”

| The wolf cried out as she was attacked by the dying hippogriff, and its talons ran deep into her skin, and even the raged beast understood that the pain was a bad sign. As the creature grew limp over her, in a fit of anger, she thrust it to the ground, driving it hard into the dirt to make sure it could no longer fight back. She was already ravenously feeding on it before she realized the piece of meat was dead, being in a clumsy state of awareness as she was. Her ears perked as a woman cried out, and she wildly turned to face the intruder, growling as blood trickled from her mouth and onto her paws. She took a step forward, warning the girl not to get any closer.
Then, the beast's gaze refocused as a second hippogriff followed the girl, and she took another threatening step forward, seeing these two as enemies. There was no clear thought such as they may back off, or fearfully flee from her, only that she needed to kill anything in sight. Though her instincts told her to attack, her body was losing strength- her paws trembled under her weight, but her will was stronger.
She whirled around as a voice revealed itself to her right, and the growls ceased. A sniff here, a step forward there. The sight of Sorrow caught her off guard, and she was uncertain of how to approach the fleshy thing. Another step. She tested the waters, waiting to see what he would do. The way he moved his limbs up did not please her though, as she lowered her head, another fierce growl bubbling in her throat. She caught his scent then, when she focused on it, and it was not the same as the woman fleshy thing. Without pause, she leaped towards him, claws ready to tear him apart.
(She'll attack Nora when she has a clear opportunity xD)

| Movement flashed in the corners of Eleonora's vision but she dared not look. Her eyes were transfixed upon the ghastly remains of Vega and the creature slowly approaching her. When a voice broke through her trance, though, she knew immediately who it was that had stumbled into this scene of horror.
Sorrow spoke a name: Gail. Eleonora put the facts together, thinking quickly in the rising jeopardy of the situation. This creature...is was a woman, a werewolf taking over someones body and mind. It did not know what it was doing and compassion and pity demanded it be stopped and released from its torment. Sorrow seemed to understand, but did he know the real dangers as he spoke?
Stand back? Was he serious? If anyone was qualified for dealing with a werewolf at Hogwarts it was her. This was the type of thing she had been trained for; this is what she did. Well, almost. Eleonora had never actually been up against a werewolf before, nor had she received the special training those who worked in the Being Department of the Ministry got, but still, she was closer to knowing what to do than Sorrow had to be. She knew the general idea behind what to do and she'd be damned if she was going to sit back and not do anything. Something she cared about had already been hurt; Eleonora could not remain inactive while another one risked their life.
While the werewolf rounded on Sorrow she took the time to skirt along the edge of the clearing, coming as close as she dared to Vega's large, still body. Her wand was gripped tight in her hand, her knuckles whitening from the force she she was pressing into it. One well placed spell might do it, if she could manage. Stunning spells were not her forte and she knew in most cases it took at least two to three wizards with powerful hits to down a werewolf. Still, she had to try. Standing by himself before the towering, growling breast Sorrow suddenly looked very mortal to Eleonora, like one hit would send him crashing and bleeding to the ground. While he must be stronger than he appeared, she had felt his strength once before held close in his arms, this was not something he should have to face alone. Not when she was there to help, despite his warning.
She could hear Polaris clacking his beak a few paces from her, waiting to see how the situation progressed. It gave her the extra push she needed, knowing that another creature in her care was in danger, and she pointed her wand at the beast, calling out “Stupefy,” before the jet of red bounced off the werewolf, seemingly to no effect.

Clearly his presence unnerved the wolf; though she fell in silence a moment, her body language suggested uncertainty. Were he human, she might have jumped him with not a moment of hesitation. This appearance gave her pause, but the moment she had his scent her anger would only grow. Sorrow hoped he stood ready for it. He couldn’t claim much past experience apart from Ylva, and Ylva and Gail were so very different. However one particular lesson remained of the time when Sorrow spent fullmoons with Ylva; by drawing blood they could very well poison each other. Though he had no intention of harming Gail in any way, he wondered how long he could distract her without at least defending himself. He would have to be very careful, least he end up dooming them both.
So when Gail did come at him, claws reaching for his life and all, Sorrow waited until the last possible moment to gracefully move out of the way. As far as he was concerned, they could play tag until the sun’s first light broke through the trees. He’d poke at her and provoke her, but only to have her chase after him. He’d lead her away, deeper inside the forest; and bring her out once she was let go of her torment. It may have worked, too, for so long the werewolf was entertained she would not go seeking out others that she might harm. Perhaps it was naïve to think that the other party would not interfere at just his word; perhaps it was grief that drove Eleonora to spell casting, in any case, it complicated things.
“Leave, Eleonora! Do not provoke her,” even if the spell bounced right off Gail, it was likely that it drew attention that Sorrow had been trying to keep on himself. He made a mistake of looking towards Eleonora; because though he cast his eyes towards the wolf again, he feared he was too slow in doing so.

| Her ears flicked back as a burst fired, and then promptly bounced off, her back. This wolf was not as easily distracted however, and while the vampire was busy looking to the source of annoyance, Gail snarled, much like a lion would roar, and whipped her arm around, sending Sorrow flying gracefully through the night air for who knows how many yards- that is, if he didn't crash into a tree first. Once he was out of the way, she turned on the fleshy woman thing and bounded towards her, leaving little room for the other one to return in time. In response to being outnumbered, the wolf had been swallowed by a fit of thoughtless rage, lashing out at anything and everything around her, though not necessarily remaining alert.
It took only a few bounds to get within arm's reach of the girl, and just like with Sorrow, the wolf whipped its arm around again, this time with claws readied. She raked through the girl's right arm, all the way to the other arm, baring her teeth at the sight of blood that developed before her fiery eyes. As she regained her stance, without another second's pause, she lunged again, ready to feast.

| The spell did not have the intended effect; the beast did not turn away from Sorrow. She could just make out his second warning to her before he was thrown aside, soaring through the air with a trail of blood descending after him. She felt her heart skip in her chest, petrified of the the damage Sorrow had just sustained. She did not have time to dwell on it, however, as now Gail had no enemy in front of her and turned to face where the spell had come from.
The werewolf was now rushing to Eleonora, claws raised and ready to strike. There was not a moment spare for her to run or call out another spell; it happened all too fast, the super speed of the creature no match for Eleonora's slow human responses. She watched in dismay and panic as the dagger sharp claws raked into her arm, slashing across her chest before exiting, leaving behind a slice so clean and straight it could have been done by a surgeon.
A shriek of pain burst out of Eleonora's lips, piercing the growling of the beast directly in front of her. It seemed to go on longer than the time it took for it to happen, curdling the hush that had fallen over the rest of the forest. A haze of red filled her vision, blotting out the moon and the trees around her, instead filling her eyes with nothing but the vibrant color of her blood now spilling forward from her body to mingle in the snow with that of her lost companion. The pain was like nothing she had ever felt, searing through her skin and blazing the soft flesh beneath it. Her whole body felt as if it was being consumed by flame and Eleonora felt herself drifting off, sleep calling her name. Her lids flickered, blue eyes shrouded with agony. No, a small voice echoed somewhere in the clouds of her slowly shutting down mind. She had to stay awake; she couldn't let this wound stop her from helping this poor creature return to her rightful body.
Through her torment and effort Eleonora felt the presence of another large creature before her, this one carrying a familiar scent. It was Polaris, stepping in between her fallen body and the werewolf. Huge wings spread into the air, causing swirls of loose snow to rise up and vortex down, falling gently over the blood still surging from the open flesh on Eleonora's arm and chest. He shrieked his hawk like warning before crashing himself into Gail, pushing her back away from his companion. He then took a step back, shielding her from the onslaught of any more attacks.
Eleonora just lay there, trying to remain conscious, aware of the warm feathers above her. Her eyes, still fluttering, searched frantically across the clearing for any sign of Sorrow.

Claws tore against the surface of his skin as he was thrown back; and quite far by the mere force of the hit. His back broke through branches and then collided with the hard ground, a startled gasp flowing past his lips. He had anticipated the hit; foreseen his own inability to dodge it in time, and yet still it took breath out of his lungs. A moment later he was lifting himself up with far less grace than that he was usually able to maintain, somewhat aware of the hurt in his shoulder which brought more annoyance than pain. Before he could rush back to the werewolf, however, he was momentarily frozen in position by the heart-wrenching cry that pierced through the noise in his ears.
Sorrow was blind to his racing towards Eleonora; nearly unaware of the intensity with which he threw himself at the wolf, locking his arms around her and into as binding a trap as he could possibly manage. His strength could have possibly matched a fully transformed werewolf, but his determination did not until he truly became aware of the danger Eleonora was in. Perhaps he should have expected that she would be too stubborn to retreat. Silently thanking Polaris for stepping in before the werewolf could further harm her, Sorrow gripped tighter at the furry form and lifted the creature up and away from the other two. He did not throw her as hard as to have her fly a larger distance, but still she landed so that again he stood as a barrier between her anger and his fear.

| Before she could move in and finish off her prey, the other hippogriff interfered and force her back, and before she could even deal with that, another mighty force reached from behind, pushing the wolf into the ground. She snarled fiercely, wriggling as she was lifted up by a form much smaller than her, and thrown away like spoiled meat. She rolled across the forest floor, and as she hit the base of a tree, a loud crack resonated, and the tree seemed to sway one way, then slowly to the other, as leaves slowly drifted down from above. The wolf was back on her feet ready to lunge back in a counter-attack, but now the forest, and the very ground swayed before her eyes. She didn't seem to process why though, until she lowered her head to the ground, where blood trailed in patterns around the clearing, leading back to her.
Her large paw, reached up to rest on the bleeding shoulder wound embezzled deep in her oozy flesh. She whimpered, falling onto her back haunches as the world spun round and round and round. Her gaze rose to look at Sorrow, not with the eyes of an enraged wolf, but a creature in pain. The woman inside the beast was beginning to wake, as her body grew weaker and less capable of movement. She raised her snout, and her heart cried out to the moon, but all that came out was a low whine, as the wolf collapsed onto her side, and then changed back into the Gail she recognized herself as. She knew her consciousness was fading swiftly, and it took all she could to look upon her victims, her arm shakily stretching out to the woman lying in the snow.
Tears welled up in her eyes, and the last thing she saw was the limp corpse of the girl's companion lying in the ground, his guardian spirit already gone from the world. She could no longer blink away the sleep though, she couldn't help pick up the pieces after all this horrible suffering she'd caused. In an instant, she was gone, pulled into the realm of dreams, and nightmares. And the wolf was gone too, but echoes of the beast yet remained, from the proof of its victims, lying there dying and dead, to the blood staining the blanket of snow. Above, the tree held a crack split down the middle, where the wolf's mark would forever remain.

| With vision that blurred and blackened before her Eleonora watched as a dark shape collided with the werewolf. Movement flew around her, snapping and whimpering noises were soft and waning in her ears. A warm sensation was filling her; it was so comfortable to lay back on the ground. She thought she saw a girl appear, reaching out to her, but she couldn't be sure. Everything was so fuzzy, so far away. She wanted to sleep, to dream of better things. Before she could, though, she needed to let Polaris know everything was going to be ok, even if she wasn't sure it was the truth.
“Polaris...” She gasped, the words burning her throat on the way out. “It's...ok. Go...ugnhh,” she moaned, every movement causing the pain in her chest to worsen. “Back....Sorrow will...,” here she was unable to continue as the blackness was rushing forward to greet her. She hoped Polaris would listen to her and escape the clearing. She hoped Sorrow would survive the encounter, hoped that some miracle left Vega alive. She would not be conscious to see it, though, as at that moment her eyes finally slipped closed and darkness embraced her. Her body collapsed deeper into the snow and she was quiet, the hum of her ragged breathing lost in the noise.

Sorrow’s eyes followed the wolf as it rolled over like a ragged puppet, not entirely controlling of her own actions. He hadn’t thought; well, he hadn’t meant to throw her that hard. The crack that sounded in his ears was sickening, and he feared he had only caused more damage, instead of coming as he should have, to help. In any case, though Gail rose, she seemed robbed of the last of her strength. The ground beneath them was caked red with blood; the white of snow only yet visible here and there. The scent of it caught in his nose, preventing him from taking proper breaths.
At last she fell, her whimper but making Sorrow rush forward in alarm. Her body seemed so fragile now, so small under the vicious cuts she had earned earlier. The tattered clothes hung over the pale skin smeared with red. The cuts were too deep for him to treat on his own, so carefully as he could he lifted Gail into his arms and then made way towards Eleonora. With all the scarlet scent blurring his vision, Sorrow could not tell which of the two was worse.
He cast a mindful eye towards Polaris, but approached Eleonora all the same. Crouching down beside her, Sorrow shifted Gail to his right arm and moved over Eleonora, somehow wrapping his left around her unconscious form. Abandoning all thought of their current presence, he formed a new destination in his mind and released the three forms into the shadow. He could feel his own energy waning as he cast his shadow over the two; and as it embraced them completely, Sorrow followed the flow far up and inside the castle’s walls, silently transferring them into the warmth.
