A l'étroit mais entre amis (Vincent, Open)

The night was very, very dark on Charlotte's first night at Hogwarts. Even though everyone had been in bed, or so she was sure that everyone was, she was quite awake, with her heart pounding fiercely in her chest.

She was wandering through the hallways, lost beyond her own comprehension, but Charlotte would not give up. She had not waited this late for nothing. It was the stars that she had been waiting for, and she was determined to find them and see them and soak in their every sparkle.

Charlotte could have been stupid, but she decide to be as smart as she could. She didn't want to get into trouble and put a bad reputation on her prestigious school, after all! So, as she wandered the halls, she had a plan.

She had been looking for the bathroom. It was really quite simple, but she made sure that she was wearing her night clothes. A black tank top with glow in the dark art on the front, and big baggy sweat pants that were covered in pretty rainbows and had clouds poorly patched onto them. Her own creation, of course, and she was always proud of them, no matter how bad they looked!

Out of no where, one of the walls of the hallway had disappeared, and replacing it was a wide open window, all down the hallway. Charlotte took in a deep breath as she felt the excitement sizzling through her body.

"Oh goodie, I must be close!"

And now she was off, dashing down the hall and up a flight of staircases. She must have been super close! She was just sure of it!

Tossing and turning had kept Vincent from falling asleep like many nights before. He was slightly frustrated so he got out of bed and quietly snuck out to the Astronomy tower. He knew that it would be the perfect place to go because he had serveyed it when he was touring the grounds and that no one would be up to bother him. He didn't bother to fix his hair or change because their was no one to impress at this hour. He took the hallway he had memorized and went up the flight of stairs he knew to lead to the Astronomy Tower. When he reached the top he was shocked to find that someone was up there. He didn't want to be noticed and ruin whatever she wanted to do so he tried his best to back out of the room as quietly as possible but failed miserably when he bumped into something and made a noticable noise.

With her fingers on the smooth door handle, Charlotte was just about to open the door to the rooftop of the Astronomy Tower, when a really loud noise jolted the air. Charlotte jumped a little bit, but she really wasn't all that scared. Big places meant big noises, hadn't they?

"Hello? Helllllooooo?" She called into what seemed to be an empty space, giggling as she heard her voice echo back to her. She could make the walls talk to her if she wanted! She thought it was pretty funny.

Then there was a shadow, a person's shadow. Or...the person was the shadow, but they aren't a real shadow because they're a person, of course! Charlotte peeked around excitedly to see who it was, but then her face dropped, almost seeming to be disappointed to find Vincent.

"Oh..."

Noticing that it was Charlotte and that she seemed disappointed to find him didn't really make him that upset. He was used to that sort of treatment and just brushed it off and did the only thing he could do. Lighten the mood.

"Your not excited to see me? What greater company could you ask for?" He looked at her with a smirk on his face trying to get her to smile. He knew that his act probably wouldn't get past her so he acted normal around her and he could never see himself doing that to her. She was too much like his sister, Fleur back home. "Don't just stand there, entrent en jeu. Je ne mords pas." He didn't know how else to say it and he wanted to get her to not be so disappointed.

Charlotte smiled at Vincent's attempts to please her, but all that she could do was turn her look skyward, because when she thought, she thought above her head. She thought that that was how you thought best!

"A dragon would be nice..."

She looked back down at Vincent, smiling, but not at all kidding. It wasn't at all that she didn't like Vincent, and she was sure he knew that, but she wanted more excitement!

"You're old news, I wanted someone new and fun and...new!"

Charlotte was a bit different than most girls. Or more so all girls, but she never took it as anything bad. If people thought she was too weird, then that was what they thought! She couldn't blame them for not liking her! Actually, she could, but she wasn't mean like that.

The thing about Charlotte was that she was comfortable in her own skin, and with who she was. It made her able to live her life quite well, to the fullest as everyone would say. But, if she were to call it something, she'd say she'd be living until her cup overflowed!

"Biting? That's not for wizards. Now come on, I have some stars to see!"

Vincent shook his head at Charlotte. She had a unique way of thinking and saying things but he knew where she was coming from but at this time of night he was the best she was going to get.

"I understand but at this time of night you won't get anyone better than me."

He chuckled at her comments. He knew that the stars would be in the sky by now and he didn't have anything better to do so he walked over to get a better view of some stars

(Oh no not at all, I'm quite enjoying this!!)

When the two of them entered the roof, it was kind of like the sky just, poof, appear right in front of her like magic. Charlotte couldn't contain herself and squealed with so much joy, running rapidly to the edge of the roof top and pushing herself up with her arms and toes, as if she could get closer.

"Oh my god, it's so beautiful!"

She felt so excited to be seeing the stars now, somehow more than earlier. Then, she remembered back to earlier, in the Great Hall and how Veronica had reacted to the fire in the goblet, thinking that it was a star.

Charlotte almost wanted to frown, but she didn't! Rather, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a necklace, handmade of course, where she attached a little, glow in the dark, origami star as the pendant. She held it up in comparison, and smiled.

"Vincent! Please please please take a picture! I have a camera!"

She didn't say it out loud, but the gift would be for her beautiful Veronica. A star necklace that had really been with the stars. It was perfect!

Watching Charlotte react to the stars made Vincent chuckle. He didn't know anyone who was as ethusiastic as Charlotte. Well there was Veronica. He just shook his head and walked over to where Charlotte stood and got her camera. He had never been perfect at pictures but he tried his best to make it as perfect as possible. He could tell it ment a lot to Charlotte. He then handed the camera back to her and just laughed. Looking up at the stars he could honestly say it was beautiful.

"It is amazing." He knew some people didn't believe that he had a heart and only cared for himself but right now he didn't care. He found that it was easier to show who he really was instead of pretending. He laughed to himself. "Did you make that necklace?"

With a laugh and a giggle Charlotte posed for the picture, dong a peace sign and holding up the necklace with her two fingers. She smiled quite the huge grin when he had given her the camera back, more excited now than ever.

"Thank you sooo much! So much!"

Veronica would love, she knew she would, she had to! And Charlotte wanted to get her something nice for a little while now, she hoped that this would be the perfect gift.

She had acted shocked when Vincent asked her if she made the necklace or not, her hand on her chest and being quite theatrical about the situation.

"Do you know me? Of course I did!"

She kept the face, pretending to be very serious and not letting a single laugh escape, even though she felt as though her stomach were to explode with giggles and laughters.

Vincent couldn't help but burst out laughing at her seriousness. She could be such a drama queen but in a good way. "Your very welcome." trying very hard to hold back another laugh.

"When did I ever underestimate you." He should have known she made it. She makes everything else. He shook his head and looked back up at the stars.

With a smile and laughter, she couldn't hold it in any more. Charlotte had lost all of her composure before she took a deep, deep breath, trying to calm her pulsing lungs and talking back to Vincent.

She loved to do it, because he was fun to kid with, and he never seemed to care about how odd she was or what they talked about. He was just a nice guy to be around, and she never had to worry about offending him or being overly strange.

"Just now, you probably shouldn't do it again."

Charlotte had said this with a smile on her face, appearing next to Vincent and looking at the stars. They were so pretty, but strange, just like her and Charlotte. They glowed now, but in reality they were dead suns. Such a strange thing that was.

"We're looking at the same stars that we see from home, but they just feel so different here!"

Vincent shook his head at her comment. The stars did feel different but he couldn't say how.

"Yeah, It's weird." It was one of the few serious moments he had kept all year. He knew that wouldn't last long. He ruffled her hair in a mocking way. "Of all people i'm spending this time with you. Something must be wrong. Never a good sign." He tried to be as dead serious as he could but he couldn't help but crack a smile.

On the grounds of Hogwarts, Veronica was nestled in the grass. It was not because she couldn’t sleep, but she wanted to trace the moon with her finger. Round and around she moved her dainty finger marveling at the moons glow. Even when the cold settled in, weaving a blanket of chilly winds over her, she did not move to a warmer venue. She just bundled up in one of her heavy blankets Charlotte weaved for her on her 15th birthday. What made it more special was she held rainbows in her hand, all she needed to do was say, “Light for me,” and the blanket shimmered in beautiful arrays of reds, oranges, yellows, greens, indigos, blues and violets. It was all hers, all Veronica. She held onto it tight as she moved onto being mesmerized by her blanket. She would not let anyone steal her most precious item, even the leprechauns who sought after rainbows to find silly trinkets called gold.  

A light giggle, muzzled by the wind but still present, as she saw it change one moment to an ocean sea blue, to violet like and explosion of fireworks. She was content to lie there for eternity and watch the moon fade into the sun in its eternal cycle, see the flowers grow up like little children and blossom. All of it she saw as if it was the first time, to Veronica it was always the first time.
