Balconies

"I can still morph, but the scars don't disappear." He answered, refraining from showing any pain as she hugged him tightly. It didn't hurt much anymore, since he'd gone through a few weeks of recuperation, but applying pressure certainly didn't help. Perhaps pain was the wrong word, more.. discomfort.

"It's fine, okay? Don't worry about it." He said as he pulled away to button his shirt back up and adjust his tie. He wouldn't say it to his mother, but the scars weren't a total loss. They were a reminder of what he'd faced in the tournament, and how he needed to find out what the Ministry had done to those people.

Brianna raised an eyebrow - he had never made an attempt to correct his atrocious English, before. What Choi lacked in grammar was made up with an abundant amount of arrogance. She said nothing of it, however, taking a sip of champagne before setting the glass down. She bit her lip, considering the question. Hogwarts...?

"It's bearable," Brianna shrugged. "I try not to think too much of it, anyway. It's only a year or so more until I become of age, and grad-"
A cry interrupted her comment, and Brianna twisted around fully in her chair. It was the woman, again... and, with her- was that really?
She turned back to Choi, offering a small smirk.
"Like I said, it's bearable. There are pretty interesting people there, anyway - maybe not as fun as your company, but it's not a total waste of time." She nodded in the direction behind her, towards the other two.

The man on the second balcony turn his head, making eye contact with Choi. Feeling oblige to respond to the man's look of disgust was to raise his champagne glass towards him. After that Dein turn back to face the woman, closing off all forms of communications. He too turn his back to the second balcony. "Very Inter-" But once again sounds from the second balcony reach his, making him turn his head just enough to see what was going on. His response to the scream was "Some people can be uneducated heathens."

"As you were talking?" Now his full attention back to Brianna, taking the seat right next to her. with a small fork, he plucked at a delicate pheasant with a mushroom sauce and put it on a small plate. "Interesting is white," he agreed. His thoughts turn to Aimee for a second but he pushed those thoughts aside.

Lydin was reluctant to pull away, but she did. She was saddened tonight. She'd be losing her son in days when Hogwarts ended, and in minutes when the ball ended, she had no hope to see his future sons and/or daughters, if he had any, if he'd even get married! At this rate, she wasn't sure, and the scars, would they go away? She didn't want to believe it.

She took a deep breath, and simply stared into the ball, "Go on, go have fun."

Dein watched her for a moment, uncertain if he would leave or not. Then, he gave a curt nod, "It was good seeing you mom." He smiled one of his rare smiles as he looked at her, and then turned and returned to the festivities.

He had a feeling she was thinking about the same thing he was. That they wouldn't be seeing each other again for a long time after this. Perhaps some time in the future. After Hogwarts, after getting on his feet after school, finding a job, a place, etc. If he could manage it, he'd find a way to see his mother.

"Interesting, my ass," she snorted. "There are interesting people, but Hogwart's itself is anything but interesting. Anyway, the sooner I get out, the better. I'm surprised my parents have kept me in one place for so long, anyway." She fiddled with her glass, watching Choi as he ate. "I prefer your company over -what did you say, uneducated heathens?- any day." She thought about his background - Mahoutokoro, and all that. It was a lineage of elegance and prestige, compared to her. She didn't even know her true heritage. But..
"Interesting is white?" She asked, puzzled. What did that mean?

"Hrmmph." She looked back towards the second balcony, setting the glass on the table. "Those two? I know of the guy... fellow prefect." She laughed slightly. "We're best of chums, him and I. Dunno about the lady next to him, though. His mother? I never knew him to be of the higher class sort."

It had been a while since she'd talked to Dein - the two of them avoided each other like the plague whenever possible. After the embarrassing event during the Triwizard Tournament, making fun of him didn't seem so fun anymore. She was perfectly happy not talking with him, however - he had always gotten on her nerves.

"Him.... Mmm. He's a total asshat." She nodded absentmindedly. Brianna picked up a fork and transferred some of the meat from the platter onto her own plate. She ate a slice, taking her time to chew it before swallowing and nodding again. "I'm glad you agreed to help - this all would have been a lot harder without your aid."
She had started sending sending Choi letters immediately after finding out that he was the host of the concert ball. This 'favor'... well, she couldn't entirely say that it was out of the good of her heart. Nonetheless, she was rather proud of herself this time round - if he readily agreed, it'd be brilliant. The Slytherin twat and Miss Nurse... Hrm. She smiled.

"..." she stared at him incredulously, before giving a small shake of her head. He had a lot to learn about English. "It's nothing. Asshat is just... some insult, that's all." She tilted her head. "But, akma? Should I even- no, nevermind. Anyway." She took a cube of cheese, nibbling at it. "Anyone with eyes can see Edrin's attraction towards Miss Nurse - did you notice the way he was staring at you earlier, when you danced with her? Priceless."

Her amused was like one of a little kid's - it was entertaining, watching Dein and his soft spot. Brianna couldn't help but want to ruffle his feathers a bit.

She turned to watch him as he moved towards the balcony. After a while, she joined him, standing up and leaning an elbow against the railing.
"She is nice," Brianna agreed half-heartedly before dismissing the comment. "Too nice for her own good, though, if you know what I mean. Nice does not always equate out to be a good thing." She rest her head against her hand, closing her eyes against the wind. It whipped her hair around her face, yet she paid it no mind.

"So Miss Nurse is a nice girl. Edrins is... a not-so-nice boy. They would be very dashing together, yes?"

Brianna looked over at Choi and scoffed. "You sneak, you." She said this without any real meaning behind it - she couldn't exactly call the tea kettle black, after all. "We, indeed.
This is the first time I'm asking you for a favor, though." She turned her back to the railing "Should I... be expecting any request of a sorts in return?" She tilted her head questioningly. Choi's moves were generally calculating and with purpose or self-interest. It wasn't like he would do something for the good of his own heart.

"Mmm." She slipped her public, social expression back on and moved towards the door. She thought about when the Headmistress had told the students to check back in, before shrugging. Ah, well. The worst that could happen would be a couple of detentions, anyway. What else would they do for mere tardiness?
She looked back at him, winking coyly. "I'll hold you to that, then. Good luck... or, well, break a leg?" Concerts were of minimal interest to her - they provided brief entertainment, at least, but she wasn't into music like Choi was. She waved her fingers at Choi before walking back inside. Time to find something - or someone - to occupy her time before the concert started.

The gust of frigid air upon her cheeks painted a grin on Medea's face as she broke into a near-run towards the stone railings that lined the outer edge of the balcony.
It was surely nice to be out here, away from the crowds and chatters of people. Gone was the atmosphere of many formals, not that she followed it. It was just her and Blaire now, alone with the peaceful calm of the outsides.

She propped herself up on the wall, grinning as she waited for her friend.

"It totally is", she beamed.

She started unstrapping her heels. She wormed her foot out biting her lip as her newly found blister scraped against the back of her shoe. The warm blood trickled down her foot yet she paid it no mind.
She pulled her feet up and got up so she was standing on the stone wall.

"The Hudsons are a well-known Pureblood family right?" The question was purely rhetorical as she carried on."So why don't you socialise much?" Medea asked as her feet performed small little pirouettes.

She kept dancing on her toes like being barefoot was completely natural to her. It was as if she was a fairy from her favourite book of fairytales that she used to always keep close to her at night.
People often scorned fairytales. being realists, but she had found comfort in forgetting about her life and delving into one that made her warm and fuzzy.

She craned her head back so her eyes were on Blaire's.

"You seem like a Spain girl" Medea laughed.
She had only set her feet in Russia, be it parent's Deatheater business or staying in the family's manor. They hadn't set foot in there since the Veela incident. The place, however, was still being cared for by house-elves despite their masters' long absence.

Medea laughed, "no tanning on sunny beaches then?"

She eyed the two guys walking towards them. If it wasn't for her knowledge of Blaire's marriage, she would think them as closer-than-friends friends. However she had thought back to Blaire's many mentions of her brothers and when Medea teased her with the mention of incest in the Leaky.

"Hudson bro Number 1 & 2 i'm guessing?" she grinned and hopped down whilst casting a small cushioning charm on the balls of her feet as they landed on the stone. The blood from her blister returned to trickling down due to her sudden movement.

Her gaze flickered slightly, down to the brother's arm that was slung across Blaire's shoulder, before returning.
Never had Adrian thought to touch her let alone acknowledge her as his sister. The thought no longer depressed her, she was free from the times when she enslaved herself into having to please people.
