In the Dead of Night Empty
PostSubject: In the Dead of Night   In the Dead of Night EmptySat Jun 16, 2012 11:16 am

Adeon was standing in the shop, glaring at the clerk. The clerk was clearly annoyed with the blonde man, no bothering to try to sell her merchandise. Adeon, to the clerk, was a harassment, and he just wanted him out of his shop immediately.

"I know you have it. Where is it?" Adeon pestered.

"I don't have it, and if you can't find it then you should leave my shop."

"I'm not leaving until you give it to me. I know you're hiding it,"

Adeon was clearly getting impatient with the man. Of course he had it. No one else would! He was informed that it was sold here, and that it would be here. And his sources wouldn't have lied. They didn't have any option but to tell the truth, because if they did...

"I don't have it. Get out."

He grumbled, but he wasn't about to move. Adeon leaned over the thin, glass desk that was hardly blocking him from the man. He inched closer to his face, a hard glare in his eyes.

"I know you have it. Don't lie to me. Now hand it over."

In the Dead of Night Empty
PostSubject: Re: In the Dead of Night   In the Dead of Night EmptySun Jun 17, 2012 5:06 am

Carling was glad to be back in her usual attire- comfortable too, until she had popped up in Diagon Alley at least. The muggle world was her world, not here. Here, she felt odd and out of place. But still, she carried on, holding a peculiar-looking satchel close to her, and wearing her hood over her head. The hood hardly covered her face though, and her fiery hair only helped to make her stick out. But did she care? No. All she was worried about were the "crazy witches and wizards" around her. It wasn't fair really, they were just going about their business after all, but anyone who can wave a magic stick around can bet on making Carl nervous.

Of course, she was one of those crazy magic stick folk, but not by choice. It wasn't something she was fond of, since she didn't have much of a knack for magic in the first place. But that wasn't why she was here. She had merchandise, and as her... shall we say, 'appraiser of magical objects' stated, she couldn't take it anywhere but here.

But that isn't quite right either. She wasn't taking it here here, but to Knockturn Alley, but now she was just waiting for her guide to the dark place. Heck, maybe Carl would like it there better. As she turned away from the crowds of people bustling up and down the street, Carling's eyes met with a dark-skinned man, about two heads taller than her, leaning up against a wall with his arms crossed. He was dressed up pretty spiffy, Carl would say, all dressed in black as opposed to all the bright colored robes Carl usually saw in the wizarding world. He stared at her, sizing her up, and then glancing down at her satchel. That was the welcoming sign after all.

He straightened up off the wall, and then nodded his head to the side, motioning Carl to follow as he made his way into an alley. There was no need to speak, he was simply doing his job after all, and after a few twists and turns, the streets became more dark, and more gloomy.

At then end of a long brick alley, the man stopped, and leaned up against the wall, and extended his hand. Carl scoffed and dropped a few coins into his palm, and he smirked, "Shop's just around the corner." And he indicated which way with his thumb. Carling simply nodded and went onward, in the direction he, well... directed.

She turned into the shop only to see the clerk and a customer arguing. Impatiently, she threw the strap of her satchel onto her shoulder and then put her hand on her hip.

PostSubject: Re: In the Dead of Night   In the Dead of Night EmptySun Jun 17, 2012 11:44 am

(Adeon: ughhh, I have to read all of that shit?)

The door to the shop opened, and rather then a bell, a few of the objects within the shop began to shake and speak. It was annoying to Adeon, the stupid and unnecessary motion of the objects, but not only that; he also didn't want company in the shop. He was agitated with the clerk, and was becoming very close to taking the whole place down, and the person who just walked into the shop was going to ruin that.

They'd be watching him, remembering his face. The Ministry would come to the place, and that would be the person to tell them what happened and who he was. He hated being found out. He lived in secrecy, his job was secrecy and he himself was a secrecy. That would all go down the drain, because of a student visitor.

Adeon looked at the girl out of the corner of his eyes. He looked back at the clerk because staring at the girl again. She had red hair, mountains of red hair. She was tall, and skinny. Easily breakable. The thought made Adeon smirk. But he didn't care about her appearance. He cared about the bag at her side, and the fact that she was in a store where you bargain a price for things. The bag was just the right size.

So his sources weren't wrong. They better start feeling the relief.

(... Lazy. xD)

Carl glanced around the room as the sound of objects whispering and shaking greeted her, making chills run up her spine. It only made her wanna get her job over and done with so she could get out of this dump. Besides, her guide wasn't going to wait outside forever.

Carl nodded toward the clerk, "Are you Parker?" But she kept her distance with both of them... magic folk. In Knockturn Alley, Carl didn't think it took much to aggravate the people around her. And considering how short-tempered she herself was, perhaps it was best if she didn't take any risks.

(Parker being the previous owner, the guy Adeon's after.)

"No...is there anything you need here?"

Adeon looked from the store clerk back to the girl who had just walked in. He appeared to be eyeing the girl, but in fact he had been eyeing the bag. He knew just what was inside of it, and the minute that she said Parker only confirmed his theory.

He kept himself quiet, waiting to see how the girl would react to the clerk. His employer wouldn't have hired another assassin, would he? Probably not. Adeon was enough to do the job, and he was almost certain that the man knew so as well. So who was she, and why did she have Parker's things?

If the wrong thing was said, the girl would flee. Or throw a few spells in Adeon's direction. He wasn't about to cause himself more trouble then he needed, though. He's just have to take a guess, and improvise based on her demeanor.

The clerk eyed the girl. Like he'd know who anyone was, he only cared about his products. "I don't know who he is. If you don't want anything from me, you can get out."

The wooden floors creaked underneath Adeon's feet as he leaned away from the clerk and his counter, and took his interest in the girl. His eyes were steady on her's.

"Why do you need him?"

He questioned her, waiting to see how she'd react. He had never seen the girl before, not here in Knockturn Alley, and not anywhere else before. Faces were at least somewhat familiar to Adeon, but hers was not in the slightest. Foreign, that seemed accurate. With her unsteadiness in her current setting, she must have been foreign. But how'd she know about Parker, then? And how the hell did she get a hold of his stuff?

"I have something to sell, obviously. And he's the only customer I'm looking for. But since he's not here, I'll just be on my way." She told the stranger. She just didn't like the way he was looking at her, like she was his prey or something. So, she swiftly left the shop to return to her guide. But the people outside turned out to be on a whole other level than the two in the shop. Sure, she was cautious around the two, but out here, people were just plain creepy. And considering all the shady sorts of places Carl had hung around, that was saying something. And if things couldn't get any worse, Carl returned to the alley from before, only to find that her guide had already left. She sighed, pulling her hood up over her face further out of irritation.

Adeon casually followed her out of the store. She had a spark inside of her, but as soon as they reached outside of the shop, it seemed to falter. Adeon could tell by her facial expression, and he couldn't resist a laugh.

He followed her, hands in his pockets, until she stopped, as if she suddenly realized she was lost. He waited for a moment to see what she'd do, but as far as he could tell, she was pretty much helpless. Putting her hood up wasn't going to do her any good.

Now people were starting to stare at her, the crowd around them getting closer and watching as they'd walk by. Adeon was unfazed by their actions, and couldn't give a shit about these witches and wizards. Their magic was worth so little.

"Need help, little duckling?" He smirked as he spoke, knowing she'd need it, whether she denied him or not. And a crowd was forming. To Adeon's knowledge, she was bound to start to feel on edge because of them.

Carl glanced back with a frown to see his face again, but then became even more concerned as she looked to the crowd that was beginning to form. She couldn't see any other way out of this then to cooperate with the man. "If you know how to get out of here, that is." But she wasn't stupid. She adjusted the strap of her satchel to be more secured, and rested her hand on the bag, so as to keep away sneak thieves, such as the man before her. He had been paying close attention to her since she mentioned Parker, at least from what she could tell.

Perhaps she would be a little more stuck up if she were anywhere else. But seeing how little Carl visited not only this place, but the wizarding world in general, she couldn't even pretend she knew what she was doing.

Adeon nodded his head, and turned around, facing the crowd before hanging swiftly to the left, his black robe now covering him head to toes. He appeared almost like a shadow, but he made himself obvious enough for the girl to follow him. Adeon had skills in stealth, but using them completely would serve him no good. He'd lose the girl, and he'd lose his object.

Of course, he could always disappear, and follow her. She was clearly lost, and would remain lost. It would be easier if he just followed her, stalked her, until he could take the object from her. But Adeon wanted to try something different--he hadn't had any human interaction in a long time. If it failed, he's just stick with the prior plan, no problem.

The alleys he turned into were dark, with thousands of connections to black streets. But here, there were no people. He looked back to make sure the duckling was following him, and slowed down now that they were out of the crowd.

Carl not only kept glancing back as the man led her away, but also kept her eyes on him. She still wasn't certain he was trustworthy, after all he was here in Knockturn Alley as well, and no one came here with good intentions. That much, Carl knew. As the man slowed down, she did as well, staying at least a few feet behind him at all times. But as he glanced back, the curiosity was getting to her, "So who are you?"

"Does it matter that much to you?"

Adeon looked at her, but only by glancing over his shoulder. He never turned his full body toward her. The bag was still on her shoulder, and the girl still had that look in her eye. He turned his head around and began walking, slowly, his hands stuffed into his pockets.

"Parker."

(???I thought Adeon was killing someone, and that someone had an item in the shop back there that he was looking for to help him get the guy...if he was the shop owner, then the clerk would have said something, and Adeon should know the guy he's killing...I'm so confused XD I'm just gonna go with it...haha)

Adeon scuffed, turning again down another alley way. He followed it back, continuing to walk. There was one strange man in the alley, but he was crippled. Nothing he could do to them.

"You think that I own that shitty shop? Wouldn't my own employee know me, if not my face then by my name, if I owned that shop?"

The questions that Adeon threw back made perfect sense, plus he had his own background on the guy. Parker. He was supposed to kill the 28 year old man, born in December. Once a member of the Death Eaters, but kicked out due to his...lack of skill. Adeon was after him because he was planning to kill Adeon's current employer, and had been toying with dark magic that his employer claimed was his. Whatever, Adeon didn't care about who was the culprit, or what for. As long as he got paid, he was set.

"Then you don't know who you're looking for."

Adeon shrugged, and starting to walk away, turning around and walking past Carling. The creepy, crippled man was in the alleyway still, keeping an eye on the girl.

"Good luck getting out."

He didn't know what would happen, but he was on the verge of going back to plan A. He wouldn't show her out if he were to go to that plan, and it was the perfect place to do just what he came for. To take her bag, and the item with it.

"It's not like I don't know how to disaparate anyways!" She said haughtily. Like she needed him! She didn't even care about the crippled man staring at her, now that she was fluffing up her pride again. She lifted her foot to pull her wand out of her boot, and in a second she'd be gone.

"With your face, I doubt you'll get where you want to be in one piece."

(also stubborn XP)

He continued to pad on, hands in his pocket. The old man, crippled, reached out at Carling and grabbed her bag, reaching inside of it from his spot on the ground. Adeon didn't care, he just shrugged himself away. Old man, hah. What a stupid disguise that was.

Adeon would get the object later, the girl was a pain enough, and he was starting to get annoyed. Why'd he ever bother with the human interaction plan? What a stupid move. He'd just turn the corner, scale the top of the buliding....

"Hey! Get off!" Carl smacked his hand away, and deliberately planted the heel of her boot into his face, knocking him away and into a wall. Now with her wand in hand and satchel hanging down her back, she crossed her arms with a quick huff, "Says you." And with that, she turned around and started walking the other way, tying her hair back as she did so.

"You little scum..." The old crippled man spoke, slowly morphing into a younger, more fit man. He had a scar on his ran face, and a burn scarring part of his hairline. He grabbed the girl, his wand in his right hand and he held it at her throat.

"Give me the bag."

Adeon had already scaled the building, and jumped down behind the man. He swung his arm around the guy's neck, pulling back and breaking it. Adeon dropped the man to the ground, dead.

He picked up his wand, inspecting it and spoke before he pocketed it, "Idiot."

But that was just about the worst possible thing that could have happened. The moment the man, now in a different form, had put the wand to her throat, Carl had entered into a wilder phase, one consumed by fear, and panic. Once she was free, she turned and ran swiftly down the alley and out of sight. She didn't even leave time to see what the other stranger had done to the man. Carl took a few random turns here and there, hopped a fence, and then met a dead end. She glanced back, and seeing there was no one on her tail, she pulled out the object from her satchel; a thin, black, leather-bound book, which she hastily shoved down her shirt. Then, like an acrobat or something, she rose up onto a dumpster, caught onto a signpost, and then swung herself up onto a rooftop. She ducked down, behind a chimney to catch her breath.

Adeon, who had naturally followed her from the rooftops, walked up behind her, purposely scuffing his feet on the ground so that she'd hear him. She was quick, but it didn't seem to be worth much if it was only for running away. There was so much more purpose to such skills, and she just wasn't going to use them the way he would. Adeon could tell, she doesn't use it for much else but running. She wasn't a fighter, she was too scared back there to be a fighter.

"So. What's the book mean to you, then?"

He cleared himself in his head, he didn't follow her. He followed the book. He needed it, and he preferably needed it now. If she wanted it back, then hell, she could have it back. He just needed a piece of information. Just one location. That's all he needed from her, and then he wouldn't have to deal with her for any longer.

Hearing that familiar voice again, she hiked herself up onto one knee, and peered out, wand in plain view. "What the fuck was that? I didn't get into to this just to get my head blown off!" She turned back out of view, the chimney still blocking sight from Adeon, "Bloody wizards." She mumbled under her breath. She was obviously ignoring his question. She wasn't giving anymore information away than she already had.

But then she began to rethink it a little. If a man had drawn his wand in order to get to this book, that meant it must be pretty valuable. A prize Carl could get quite the pretty penny for. But then what would she do with Wizard currency? It certainly wouldn't help her family, that much she knew. Finally, she replied, "What does the book mean, to you?" She stood up, facing the man with one hand leaning against the brick chimney.

"To me?"

Ugh. He didn't want to get into this. He stared at the girl for a while, and realized he wasn't going to get anywhere if he didn't talk to her. What could he say, though? Oh, not too much, it'll just make killing easier. Yeah, that'll go well.

He sighed, obviously agitated, and stuffed his hands low into his pocket. The girl's wand didn't scare him in the slightest. Especially after she called their world the Wizarding World. She wasn't foreign. She was in the Muggle World.

"The book means little to shit to me. I just need a location, that's in the book. Should be one of the last pages. But if I can't get it, then I don't need it. I'll find him on my own."
