Characteristics:PERSONALITY: Despite being in Slytherin, Kelly is kind and protective towards her friends and family, often to younger students as well despite their House. She is calm and collected, resulting in her not losing her temper often. Though, if she does get angry, she bottles it up and, over time, she will eventually grow angrier and angrier and explode on the first person to get on her nerves. In front of teachers, she acts like the ideal student, basically a teacher's pet. Behind the scenes, when there aren't any teachers around, she can be quite the opposite. Rebellious and a rule breaker. She's also very patient, usually listening more than talking when someone is telling a story or talking to her. She is cunning and quick-witted, but keeps her knowledge to herself unless no one else speaks up to tell the answer.
She has a sharp tongue and a slightly arrogant gait (how she holds herself when she walks) to her. She's also a bit vain, replying when someone gives her a compliment "Oh, I know" and then walking off. Kelly prefers to follow tradition rather than change things up, which can be why she gets so irritated if they cancel something that happens every year. Lastly, Kelly is very ambitious, to reach a goal she will do anything. It goes along with her also being competitive and powerful, knowing people in high places helps her get what she wants.LIKES: Cats, dancing, singing, reading, learning, writing, laughing, smiling, and hanging out with friends.
DISLIKES: Dogs, sitting still, rain, being bored, clowns, the dark, and many more things.
FEARS: Clowns, dogs, heights, dark.
HISTORY: Kelly was born in Cambridge to her two Gryffindor parents. Her mother, Emiline Gateley, was so delighted to see her newborn baby girl that she almost exploded with happiness. Her father, Chance Gateley, wasn't nearly as pleased, hoping for a male heir instead of a female. But, none-the-less, he was pleased to have a child at all. She grew up an only child until she was ten, when her mother had a boy and died in child birth. Kelly and Chance were uncertain whether to keep the child, due to Emiline's death, as he could be a bad omen. But they decided to keep him. Chance was very wary of the child for a few years, so he left Kelly to care for him until she went to school, forcing him to be alone with the bouncing baby boy.
When Kelly first got her letter to Hogwart's, she was thrilled. She knew she could be just as great a witch as her mother. Her father, who saw so much of her mother in her, disliked the idea of sending her away to learn magic, wishing he knew enough to teach her at home. But, after a week of begging and pleading, Chance finally agreed that Kelly could go to the school where her parents learned their skills. Her father sent her to the Leaky Cauldron, asking one of his old friends to help her collect her things and get on the train. The friend agreed and that's when Kelly met Jennifer Weasley. She wasn't much, a scrawny thing really, with long ginger hair that fell down past her shoulders. She was taller than Kelly but not all that much taller than the young girl would turn out to be.
While Kelly stayed with Jennifer, she got to know her. She learned that she was related to Harry Potter, though she wasn't all that lucky. Technically she's a great-great-great X some number niece. She had been sorted into Slytherin, the first Weasley to be sorted there, and she was quite kind... for someone who was supposedly hanging out with future Death Eaters.
Jennifer and Kelly grew close and, when it came time for Kelly to board the train, Jennifer walked her to the train and then stood and watched as it left. For the first time in a year, Kelly felt truly loved again, not like the burden her father makes her feel she is. On the train, Kelly met many first years that she could possibly befriend, but none of them really seemed to stick out. She wanted to find someone who caught her eye, and really catch it. But no one did, and this disappointed the little brunette greatly. So, she arrived with all of the other students at Hogsmeade Station and was carried across the lake in boats. Kelly was so terrified of being sorted, that she had no idea who she should show herself as to the sorting hat. She had so many sides she could be at a time that she could be any number of houses.
When Kelly's name was called by the professor holding the hat, she quickly walked up to the stool and sat down, frantic and uncertain. It took maybe three minutes, Kelly arguing in her head with the darned hat that wouldn't decide where she belonged more. Finally, when Kelly showed the hat all of her attributes, he chuckled aloud and grinned largely,
"Oh, you're quite cunning you are. I know exactly where to put you now." Before Kelly could question which house he meant, the hat yelled out,
"Slytherin!" In it's croaky voice and the table full of green and silver colored kids yelled loud with cheers as their newest first year joined them. They shook her hand enthusiastically, some grinning slyly, others just being plain friendly, without that devilish look some of the others had.
Kelly's first year at Hogwart's went rather smoothly from then on, helping relax and make friends with some with devilish smiles and others with easy, relaxed smiles that told her they weren't sons and daughters of Death Eaters. Only the sly, devilish ones were. It was just the way they looked at the Muggle-borns and other houses that helped give it away, otherwise, Kelly would've just assumed. The only bump in the road that Kelly came across was the letter from her father scolding her for getting into Slytherin. He said that her brother was doing well but that he would never allow his son to be caught dead in that dreaded house. Kelly was hurt by her father's unusual cruelty and she didn't respond to the letters he sent from then on, barely even taking the time to read them.
Kelly's second year was even easier, having taken the first year exams and acing them no problem. She was like a Slytherin/Pure-blood version of Hermione Granger, a prodigy Muggle-born. She found herself passing every class no problem, she even helped out the other students. The only things she had trouble in during her second and first year was her History class and learning how to fly on a broom. She was so afraid of heights that she was incapable of even leaving the ground with the rest of the class. And as for History... it was quite boring. She really didn't want to take that class for another five years. Passing everything but the History exam with a perfect score, Kelly went back home to stay with her father and brother until third year came along.
In Kelly's third year, she could finally visit Hogsmeade. She was excited as any other and her father had signed the parchment with ease, knowing she would be monitored and watched at every step she took. She also began taking Arithmacy, Runes, and Divination in turns. Eventually she decided she would be unable to take Divination anymore, as she found it ridiculous and pointless. After another couple weeks with just Arithmacy and Runes, Kelly dropped Arithmacy, due to the hardness of it. Runes was easier than all of them and she knew she would be able to pass but... just barely. Once again, Kelly flattened every test except for History and Runes, getting a T in History and an E in Runes.
Now, at fourteen, Kelly returns to Hogwarts for her fourth year. She awaits more adventure than the previous years and expects it to be delightful in every way. Will she find her year to be exactly as expected? Eh, who knows? We'll hafta figure it out.. through a story.
