Growing up with wizarding family on her mum's side and muggle family on her dad's side, Jessica was envious of her mum's ability to control her magic, and her dad's lack of magic to not be in control of. Her mum's family had loads of witches and wizards, but also muggles who had married in. At functions she always hung around the karaoke machine, singing is one of her favourite things to do, one of the few constants she'll allow. Her parents were quite liberal and carefree, and her big 10th birthday present was dying her hair. She decided to go teal, and since has rarely had a hair colour that appears naturally. At first her Hogwarts classmates teased her when the colour grew out of her hair, but she quickly mastered the colour-changing charm, and nowadays a stranger might think she was metamorphmagus. Jessica very much lives by motto "You can't know until you try it" and as such rarely repeats an experience when there's a new one to be had. She'll accept any dare, from hanging from a broomstick by her knees, or cooking. Having very little follow-through with the activities she tries, Jessica had a rather poor success rate, until her Hogwarts professors made her practice her spellwork. She still has a relatively low success rate in everything besides singing and spellwork.
In her fifth year, but rather indecisive about what career she'd like, Jessica tries to study all her subjects at once (literally having a charms book and potions book open next to each other) and ends up retaining very little information. She will occasionally show her worry about her OWLs, but not often, and not for long.
